Nancy's new adventure

Recommended Posts

On 12/12/12 I had a RNY surgery to lose 120 lbs. I have a small skin infection on Keflex for otherwise doing as expected. I go back to work on 1/13/13 and I hope I will be able to keep the secret. I went to surgery with only my husband and my nephew knowing,.. my kids and my mother dont even know. I am looking forward to some help and some tips from these forums.

Thank you

Nancy

Hi Nancy!! Welcome! I told very few people too. I was off a month as well and so far no one has said anything to me. I only lost about 23 pounds so nothing drastic which is good.

This is a great place. Never hesitate to ask a question or reach out for support.

Welcome Nancy. I go for the final doctor visit tomorrow morning to review the pre-op test results. Then they will schedule me for an all day nutrition class then the surgery. Thank you for sharing. I will be following right behind you!

Congrats Nancy on beginning your journey! Hope you are healing nicely. I was trying to keep this a secret at work. I had only told the teachers on my team... However, you know how that goes. Word had gotten out. I'm okay with that. Good luck with everything!

Hi Nancy. I haven't told anyone either. My surgery is Jan 10 and my work people know I'm having stomach surgery but no details. I work with a lot if mean spirited people and my boss would not be happy with me putting our department in a bind for an "elective" surgery. Good luck to you and God bless.

I am with you on the not telling many people. For the few people that know they are very supportive but the subject itself is hard to bring up with my extended family. Good luck with your journey and keep all of us updated on your results.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
