Looking forward to a whole new me

I am new here and am looking forward to having people help thru my new journey. I haven't had the surgery yet but am looking to have the RNY gastric bypass. I only have one more test to do and they will submit it to my insurance for approval. I am getting excited but also nervous. I have been tossing this back and forth for over a year to have the surgery. I have done lots of research and following the forums and realized this is what I really want. I didn't become heavy until my early 30's and have continued to gain weight since. I have tried numerous diets and lost a few pounds and always gain it back plus some. Looking forward to becoming healthier and smaller. I know I have a long road ahead of me. :)

Hello shrncir01 and ...........WELCOME!!!!! I know you mentioned that this surgery is something that you have really thought about back and forth and I do believe for good reason. Having this surgery is not only a big operation but a huge life change and in my journey the good has far far far did I mention far lol outweighed the cons! I honestly have to say that this is the greatest gift I could of ever given myself….my family……and everyone I come into contact with. I only regret not being able to do this sooner but hey I’m not complaining I just so very thankful that I was able to finally have it done. Please keep us posted on your journey this site is filled with so many loving, caring and extremely helpful individuals. Went to my first Support group last night. I meant a bunch of wonderful and nice people. People like me who are still going thru all the steps before surgery, some have their surgery date, and alot that already had the surgery. I really enjoyed talking to everyone and listening to their stories.
