I took them all into consideration because I have lupus and take a lot of meds too. I am not approved yet but feel I made the right decision because I need this weight off as soon as possible. I am in a lot of pain and it is hard for me to move around because I am so stiff. So the doc said this would be best and that we would just adjust all they meds. I am sorry I can't be more helpful about post-opp, but I am still waiting for my approval and haven't taken the post-opp class yet. You can finding lots of good info by reading posts from others though. Welcome, and it is good to have another person who understands the difficulty of having an autoimmune dissorder. By the way when was your surgery?

Welcome. I don't know much about the sleeve. I was revised from lap band to RNY last week. So far so good. I hope you get some answers to your questions from those in your situation.

Again Welcome

I was planning on the Sleeve and felt prepared for it and when i switch doctors they explained a whole different world to me compared to my first doctor ( my first doctor didnt say much showed a bunch of numbers on slides and i pretty much googled everythign else) my doctor now out of experiance and honesty suggested RNY and i was scared at first but i have been reading up on it feel a little bit better, but i understand ur feeling. I think i mentally, emotionally prepared for sleeve and now i am starting over in a short period. Hopefully ill have surgery at the end of this month im waiting to hear back from insurance!!

Just my opinion.... but I think you will have a better chance of success with RNY. Plus you lose a higher percentage of weight with the RNY.

I started out with sleeve but ultimately chose RNY. I asked my surgeon which procedures has the greatest success in terms of not regaining weight. He said RNY. For him, sleeve and RNY did not make any difference. It was up to me. He asked me if I liked baked goods. Answer = yes. He again recommended RNY. So I had RNY two weeks ago and I am so glad I did it. It cost me $10k extra (I am self pay). And I am so glad I did RNY. He also said that the risk of complications was only a tiny by higher with RNY versus sleeve. I am very pleads with the decision.

I wish everyone success with whatever choices they make in their weight loss journeys!

Shakirra, it is normal to be nervous. I vomited al the way to the hospital out of fear. Naturally after surgery, I wondered why I had been so afraid. The preop nurse told me it would be abnormal not to be nervous. We are just human. All I can say is that I got through surgery. The nurses were super helpful. It wasn't fun but it wasn't the most horrible thing either. You are starting a new life. I am wishing you the best of success!

This is exactly what happened to me. I have been planning for sleeve since September. I got my insurance approval couple weeks ago and Monday I changed my mind to RNY. My surgery is Jan 10 and I am soooo nervous but I am happy with my decision.

I was planning on sleeve, then dr reviewed my scope pictures and strongly suggested bypass instead. I have some damage from reflux. This was just 10 days ago and my surgery is in 5 days. I was a little freaked out but know its the right choice! I've done a lot of research online and meet with DR again on Monday.

@bakawaka- why did your DR ask about baked goods?

I know you were asking bakawaka but surgeon probably asked because of the dumping. Bypass causes dumping with sweets fats and baked goods. As unpleasant as dumping is the hope is it will deter you from eating those things.

I was originally going for the sleeve, but found out my insurance won't cover it. I'm happy with my RNY decision, but get scred sometimes of malnutrition.

Nikempstr and Jessica9190,

My story is a combo of both of yours, was approved for sleeve in November-changed it to RNY this month and had to be re-approved. I'm January 10th too and can't wait!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
