Had my 5-6 week post-op follow up today. Nutritionist said I'm doing everything right and showing an excellent weight loss. Once I'm able to get in at least 60g Protein by food I can wean off the protein shakes--hallelujah!!

Got another Rx for Vitamin D, but got taken off the prilosec and something else I cant remember now.

Another 3 weeks or so on soft foods and I'll be bumped up to the "lifestyle" plan aka "regular" food.

Feeling blessed that I've had such a smooth recovery and sending thoughts to those who have not been so lucky.

Glad to hear you made it through the surgery okay, Gen! I was gonna mention the gas pains being exceptionally worse than the bypass surgery because I remember it all too well but in the end I was hoping that maybe it was just my recovery. It wasn't pleasant at all. I had a full hip-to-hip incision and out of 11 surgeries it was the worst for me to recover from. How soon will it be before you get the results? Hang in there! You've been through a lot, that's for sure!

I can call my Dr for results on Monday. By looking at them, he believes the results will come back good.

On todays episode of These are the Days of My Life: My a@@ of an ex, stupidly hired another lawyer inLouisiana trying to screw me over. He knows he doesn't stand a chance in MI and believes he can get out of paying alimony and taking half my stuff. See, MI isn't a community property state. It is what is called an equitable division state. It is the judges discretion to award a spouse more than 50% if he/she wants too. My judge could say Mr Ozment you are the scum of the earth, I award Ms Ozment 100% of everything. Therefore he continues to try to bypass MI courts by trying to drag it into Louisiana courts, hmm he pissed my lawyer off thoroughly, wonder what the judge is going to say??? Poor a@@ ex hubby, NOT. His Ho told me "their lawyer" to get half her stuff. She's screwed in the head. Not a damn thing will go to here in 1 piece unless I want it too.

He took away my lifetime worth of Tricare by turning the divorce decree into the military (by a mere 3 months shy of 20 year it's all gone). What kind of crap is that. So my lawyer has wrote a motion for me to file w Louisiana courts to throw out the divorce due to it already being active in MI. Keep your fingers crossed for me so that I get my health insurance back.

Does everyone deal with nausea and vomiting on a normal basis? Im 6 weeks out, and get a little nauseous when I eat. Not every time, but maybe once a day. And vomiting, maybe 2-3 times a week. Mostly if I try something new, or eat to fast.

Do you all think this is normal?

Thanks,

E

I am 7 weeks post surgery and I get nautilus every single day and its usually in the evening. I only vomit when I eat too much but I've learned to start with 3 oz of food and if I want more after 10 minutes then I can have more so I haven't vomited in a while. I notice smells of things really make me extra nautilus too. But it sounds like its somewhat normal from what doc and nut gave told me.

I need to get new glasses, but I was going to wait till I reached goal weight. I know from many years ago, that weight loss can improve your vision. I am 65 pounds down with about 45 pounds to go. I can deal with the ones I have. Just wondering what you guys thought. Should I wait with the thought that more weight loss could change my vision more if I get glasses now?

I would vomit about that much. I would leave work at4-430 go straight to the gym since its on the way home. Then spend 1-2 hrs at gym, then start off eating to fast after I got home. I believe that was the main reason for mine. Other than chicken ending up too dry.

Eating too fast, definitely. Something new could trigger it too.

Yes I have the same symptoms. My sister had her bypass nine years ago and she said its normal. I found it helps if you don't let yourself get over hungry. Also strong seasonings make me vomit.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
