Me, too. Last we heard was a week or so ago, wasn't it? She was just going in for a feeding tube. It's so sad that she's had such terrible complications. I hope we hear from her soon!

I missed you guys! Jumped off this thread a few weeks back, but wanted to check in and see how all my December buddies are doing. I'm so sad SimplySouthern is still having such a hard time. Sending prayers up for her. I'm one month and a couple of days post op and feeling great. Hit a stall at week 3, but kicked up exercise and Protein so hoping for more weight lost when I weigh in on Friday. Hope you all are feeling good!

Old hippie gal. Check the label carefully on those drinks. My doctor will not let me use any ensure' date=' diabetic shakes, slim fast ect.[/quote']

As bad as my reactions have been to the Proteins drinks i have to mix myself i am glad to get in the Protein now. It does have a high sugar but if i can have yogurt with 15 to 17 grams of sugar i think the ensure will be ok

I wasn't sure what the reason was I just remember my dr saying no because I like the taste of the Walmart brand slim fast shakes in the can :( I could not drink the Protein mix at all even the unflavored in cream of chicken Soup was nasty. I hurried along to try and get the protein in my foods instead. Around week 7 I went back to making shakes with the mix and skim milk (like chocolate milk) and to my surprise they actually tasted fine it was like my taste buds has changed. Not sure how far out you are but after a week or two try it again and they may taste better for you also.

I was sadden by news that a dear friend had lost her sister yesterday but what made it so much more worse she passed away due to bariatric complications. Her surgery was the day after Christmas. To compound that information I was told that her other sister had bariatric surgery a year ago and now has been diagnosed with cancer. Please pray for this family, they need lifted up.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
