OK.. So I don't think I have ever felt "dumping" but man do I feel like yucko after eating lunch today.

I ate some tuna fish for the first time. (It was from Subway tho) and I think it may have had to much fat?? I am unsure. But it is kicking my butt. I just feel like "flu" like symptoms.

anyone else have this trouble with Tuna?

I was doing so well, eating and drinking and this past week I have just felt yucky after eating. I am 4 weeks out, and I don't know if my tummy is getting more and more sensitive? or if this is normal to start "rejecting" more things. I have never felt sick with any foods I have tried (even tho I stick to the basics) until this week. I just seem a little more picky.

Just venting.. hoping to kill time to feel better. :)

Jill

From everything I've experienced.. Your stomach will love things one minute and then the next... Not so much. I'm 9 months out and have always had a problem with tuna unless its really wet. Basically things eaten are by trial and error. Hope you feel better soon

I don't do tuna or chicken real well. I think everyone expierences dumping in their own way. If I got a tummy ache after eating something I would go back to liquids for a day or two to let my pouch rest then go back to what ever stage I was in. I am 7 months post op now and can basically eat anything... but tuna and chicken are a no-no for me,,,,, I'm just afraid. You live and learn on what you will like/dislike. Just chew, chew,chew,chew... and try new things at home so if you have to run to the restroom you can - :)

I haven't experienced dumping with what I've eaten so far. I try to be mindful of the fats and sugars but, then again not everyone has dumping. They do say that it feels like the flu and you want to go to sleep. So there is a chance the mayo was too much for you. You have to think though that you've had a pretty bland diet up until now and then you added some fat to it. Just that alone could make you feel funny....but subway tuna has more mayo than you'd probably use yourself at home so it's kind of a shock to your system. You may be able to eat that again later on, farther along but, sounds like it's possible it's too much for your body right now.

I hope you feel better soon!

If it is the tuna salad from subway, all I know is that is the worst thing to get there. That is coming from a subway worker!

I think you may be right with too much fat. Subways tuna salad is made with real mayo which is high in fat. Before you give up on tuna try to make it home with light mayo and see how you feel.

You are still early in the game and only 4 weeks out. Yes, it could be the mayo but it could also be a message from your tummy telling you to hold up and go a bit easier with softer, more digestible foods for another week or two. Have you tried fish and meats before with success? I've been through it all in the last 6 years with RNY surgery in 2006 and revision due to bleeding ulcers in 2/2012. No way could I get tuna down after 4 months no matter what was mixed with it after 4 weeks--includes both original and revision surgery. Sprouted Tofu is a good substitute and I've learned to appreciate it. Good luck!!!!

Yes, I have eaten meats and I love fish! I eat tilapia and salmon with no troubles. I went to lunch with my work girls and decided to mix up my daily lunch. (I usually get a chick fil a kid's meal with grilled chicken nuggets and fruit) I just have not felt that

Oops.. phone cut me off.

I have not eaten mayo before and think it's probably what made me feel so Yucko!! I will stick with what I am used to. Lol. I have just started introducing some new things and maybe I'm being to quick with that. I need to stick with the basics for a bit yet.

Thank you all for your replies and support!!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
