I am 4 days post-op. Still in pain. Not able to get all of my fluids down. They are not releasing me from the hospital for observation due to anemia. I have a lot of swelling in my bowels. And my incision is producing a lot of blood (which is I was am moving towards anemia). I still am bloated. I'm feeling some anxiety about getting well but the surgeons and nurses assure me I will be okay and that the extra days in the hospital are truly to make sure I'm okay. I appreciate that they are watching out for me. I sure am ready to get rid of this post-op pain. I will continue sharing my insights. I do not know whether I am losing weight - right now I just want to be well - I'll worry about losing weight when I am back home.

Good luck Falicia..you will do fine! I had 3 drains up until I left the hospital...i would have gone home with one but they kept me 2 days longer because I was having breathing problems and they pulled all 3 the day I left

I'm in the hospital for my fourth night - I am writing this from the hospital. I am hoping to be discharged tomorrow. The latest problem is anemia. So they are going to stop the Lovenox shots and see what happens.

Ok anyone else crying at the drop of a hat. I'm a mess today.

Well going thru all this is an emotional event..for man or woman..there is no shame in tears..but to answer the question, yes I've been a bit emotional but I don't really have a good support system. I think being in the hospital wears on a person

I just found this... better late than never. :)

I had surgery on Nov 5th, and on on Monday i will be four weeks post op. First two weeks were I guess normal even though i still felt very naseaus. I was able to walk every day, which made me feel very good. After a few days, I decided to go to the store and omg, I felt so very horrible. Very dizzy, very tired, hard to breathe. I felt like I was about to pass out. For about a week I felt that way, very tired and very weak. I couldnt even walk. Turns out that my blood pressure medication was making my blood pressure too low. Now Im iust scared to do anything... im scared that Im going to continue to feel like like im going to pass out.

Another thing... i still tend to feel naseaus, especially after I havnt had something to eat. I am just not hungry; even my head hunger is gone now. Sometimes the thought of food just makes me gag. I gag pretty much every day. Sometimes I even gag after I have ate something, but its usually the last bits and pieces. I always measure my food, atleast one ounce to one and a half ounce. Also it doesnt help im super picky with my food. The thought of something in the blender or something pureed is just ugh... naseaus. Im trying to think positive, but its so hard to.

Any advice would help.

Eli: hi and welcome. I'm less than two weeks out but I understand. The last few drinks of shakes gag me. Tried some Soup now I'm a bit nauseated. I want crackers. Lol.

I don't really have head hunger but I'm realizing I'm totally addicted to food. It's so sad. The hormones make me want to stress eat but I am not hungry. Nor do I really care to eat. Everyone says it gets better. We have to wait it out I guess.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
