Wow! All is done and now I start a 3 week liquid diet on Monday and then surgery! Glad all the hoops are jumped through and so excited to start the real journey. I just want to thank all of you for sharing and for this forum as it makes me less nervous. Good luck all and I look forward to hear of your experiences once surgery is done.

I'm so nervous. I want to get excited but my Dr hasn't submitted to insurance yet. He said he can't until after endoscopy. I have my date but what if I'm denied? Anyone else have this?

Wow that sounds hard but what a great way to start. Hmmm I'm thinking maybe I should so mine longer. It deffinitly would help take off some weight.

It should, I hope, the main reason is to make sure my liver shrinks a little. My dietician today said that t is 60% of my needed caloric intake and I haven't lost anything up till now so I'm thinking, if I can keep on it, I should lose quite a bit. Not necessarily the best way - ultimate "fad" diet but we'll see lol.

I finished all of my tests over the summer. Tuesday I go to the "education" (dietician) class, on Wednesday I sign consent, see Dr. (last visit) and get my pre-op labs. Picked up some starter supplies (protein, broth, Jello etc....)

Looking forward to starting my new life, too! Seems surreal!

If it was in the brochure most of us would've run out of the office screaming

I started drinking the GNC lean shakes this past sat as 2 meals a day and eating a sensible dinner... I'm down 12 lbs... However I have 35 more to go before dec 10 saw the dietician yest she said why mess with what's working so she upped me to 4 a day and nothing else but water... I can do this... They keep me super full for about 4 hours so I will drink one every 4 hours... I can this I'm not stopping at 35 I plan to lose 50 before surgery today is the first day of the rest of my life my journey truly begins today

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
