Recommended Posts

Omg, I feel like I can't do this diet. Before I got pregnant I was working out on my diet and lost 28lbs in 2 months, now i feel drained and don't know if I can go back to the before pregnancy me, I'm per op and suppose to be drinking Protein 3x daily, I've done nothing but stuff my face. Idk if I'm depressed for losing my mom the day b4 I had my son or if this is really not for me. I think I need help and support ( am I the only one? I was doing sooooooo good before I had my son, now I feel like... Ughhh lol

Hang in there, Ava. It sounds like it's really hard right now--I can't imagine. But think about your baby and your mom. She would want you to be around a long, long time for your child. It's okay to feel sad, but use it to fuel your determination to be a healthier you!

You can do this! You have done it before and you can do it again! You need support and time. Have you gone to any meetings? Maybe set up an appointment with a therapist. When you are dealing with big issues like losing someone that you love therapy can help. (HUGS)

Ava, I agree with dorky and 2nd you need to be kind to yourself and find a support group and also see if your Surgeons office has a therapist. You CAN do this, but not on your own. You need to do this for your son. Wishing you the very best. We are all here for you. If you need to send a private message do so, if you even need to talk on the phone let me know. I am pre op too. And it is hard but we can do this.

I agree! YOU CAN DO THIS! Believe in yourself... Find a therapist or group. It's not easy and but nothing in life is.

You can do this!

I was lasy meeting eating too, I think that's normal. Just keep moving forward and everything will be fine. This is what I had to tell myself all the way up until I was on the table the day of my surgery. Its not that bad and you will have all your favorite foods again.

I have faith in you Ava. Please find someone to go talk to. I lost my dad a year ago and I had to talk to someone... I had turned to eating again to cope. Talking to a therapist helped so much. You can do this!!

Is there anyway you can eat your Protein in bar form rather than drink it? I have a feeling that the chewing would be positive for you.

I have a 6 week pre op diet ahead of me (week one down and no massive cheating!) but I'm allowed a 'real' meal a day, and have a good variety of Optifast, different flavour shakes, Soups and different bars. seriously without the variety I would go insane. It might also pay to talk to your dietician about whether you can replace one of your liquid diets with a Protein rich low fat low carb actual meal - something like grilled fish with garlic salt and lemon, and a salad.

\

The Optifast is great because I am feeling full all the time :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
