How Long?

For Roux en Y, ATLEAST 2 weeks. I'm taking 3 weeks off and I think it'll be perfect, although I wish I could take 4 off

I planned on 1 week off and 1/2 days the second week. Is that realistic? I work literally 1/2 mile from home and it's a desk job.

Well, if you have to work for financial reasons, I suppose it would be ok but that's if everything goes as planned. I would seriously consider telling your boss 2 weeks. This operation is a big deal to your body and it needs rest.

Thanks, that's what I need to know. I was planning on two weeks off my second job but maybe I'll try at least a week and a half off the first one too. I do need to work.

Do you have any paid time off saved up? Or short term disability? I'm using both so I wont get into trouble with my bills. My job allows me to use my paid time off and my short term disability at the same time so I get paid a bit more for staying at home.

Yes I have 12 days, but don't want to use it all in case of dr appts, illness' or anything else that may come up in the next 3 1/2 months.

Thanks! I'm not good at resting either. Boredom sets in rather quickly.

I stand on my feet all day and went back to work after 9 days. It was tough to deal with the first 2 days but then I got back into my grove and was ok

I took a week off and I walk at my job. I actually could've gone back a few days later but you are more tired then sore. My mom also had surgery and went back to a desk job within a few days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
