Hair Loss

One of the most difficult things I've had to deal with so far is losing my hair... My weight always made me really self conscious about the way I looked but my hair...is something I dedicate a lot of effort into because I feel wonderful when it's done. Now 5 months after my surgery I've lost almost all of it. It's thin and weak and comes out in huge clumps.

I could deal with the torture of not being able to eat a lot of the things I loved, I could deal with the pain I get occasionally even throwing up what my stomach rejects... I've lost 95 lbs and cant wait for what is to come...But losing my hair has me feeling terrible. I don't know how to deal with it. :(

At 3 months I started losing hair like crazy!! Almost 6 months out now I still am!! Start taking the biotin ASAP!

I take 5000 mg daily. USe fall fight shampoo and my hair finally started going back to how it was before after 6 months

my doctor said hair loss at 3 months and will stop at 6 months.

Where can I find this shampoo?

If you have a Walmart in your town it's there.

I was losing clumps of hair. Having always had such beautiful, long, thick, wavy hair I wanted to cry when I brushes or washed it. I currently eat very little r/t my gall bladder needing to come out. My protein intake is in the toilet. I try and drink milk by the gallon;) cause it stays down. Anyway, I've been taking biotin. I've tried the shampoos. Nothing is working. Then I cut my hair from just above my butt to my shoulders. And now the falling out has slowed up drastically. Im guessing taking some of the weight off the follicles has helped.

Thank you!!!!

I switched from a regular Multivitamin to prenatal and my hair looks amazing. My hair is my vain pride, I wasn't about to play with it. Long, gorgeous red, thick, and ringlet curls. I love my hair! A lot of people think you can only take a prenatal before you have a baby. But if you aren't expecting, all the extra nutrients are absorbed into your hair, skin, and nails. If you read the label its a multivitamin with a few added supplements. I went this route instead of with Biotin because it eliminates the extra med a day. Also if you take your Vitamins at bed time they absorb better.

My hair stylist told me to take prenatal vitamins way before I had surgery because I have weak hair and nails. What brand do you use? Where did you buy them and for how much?

I was severely anemic so I've been taking prenatal Vitamins instead of multi vitamins since 6 weeks post op. I've have minimal hair loss and I'm no longer anemic. So I to advocate the prenatal vitamins.

I take vitafusion prenatal. They are gummies. They taste awesome! I got them at wal mart and 1 bottle lasts 45 days and is about $10.

Prenatal Vitamins are free at a lot if pharmacies with a prescription. My surgeon wrote me a script for a year. Really helps with the cost of supplements...
