Did You Come Home With Anything Attached?

Recommended Posts

No they do not let you eat until they do the upper gi to make sure you have no leaks, once results come in they take it out and begin you on Clear Liquids.< /p>

Again not everyone is the same. I did not have any drain tube ever, but I did have a cathater which was taken out second day which was the day i went home. I was eating (ok sipping) food like broth, popsicles and juice the day of my surgery, literally within a few hours. had surgery at 730 and I was given lunch. I never was given a swallow test or anything.

Really the best thing is to ask your surgeon what he does and then those who have exerpienced that same procedure can give you advice and support on whatever you will personally have to experience.

So I had my class today and I will be coming home with a g-tube as well as a Blake drain. The drain comes out after 2 weeks and the g-tube has to be in for a minimum of 4 weeks no exception. My surgeon is very cautious and I love that but I'm so nervous about these things sticking out of me especially the g-tube. The drain helps them identify leaks sooner cuz they have you drink blue Powerade for 2 weeks and if any blue comes in the drain you know there is a problem. The g- tube is to make sure you get all your Protein in. If you can't get all by month you pour it down the g-tube. So I like that from day 2 I will be getting all my protein. But I have to get use to the idea that I will have tubes coming out my stomach for a month. But I'm biggest issue is that I'm the matron of honor in my friends wedding a little over 2 weeks after surgery, how am I going to hide that under my dress?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
