To Submit Now Or Wait Until Later? (Umr Ins)

Recommended Posts

***This post was originally under Pre-Op, but I moved it here.***

Hi everyone! I'm on the fence about submitting everything to my insurance carrier. I have UMR (UHC) but and the requirements are physician visits 6 months or more within 3 years *the requirements do not state consecutive*, a bmi of 40 or higher or at least 35/38 with a comorbity.

My bmi is 43.4 with high blood pressure, pre-diabetic. I also have joint pain with all the extra weight. I have more than 6 months (not all consecutive). I don't know if I want to go ahead and apply now or just wait until I have all consecutive months to ensure all my bases are covered. I would have been done in July but I missed a month or two planning my out of town wedding. Now that everything is over. I will be finish with 6 consecutives in December and can resubmit then if denied.

Has any one had experience with UMR? I have co-workers who missed months but were still approved. I've confirmed through my surgeon, doctor, and website the the requirements dont say consecutive but when calling they give me the rigamaroo.

Lol! :-) I moved when I realized it was in the wrong place. I'm doing okay. Just anxious about getting to start over.

You will feel great once the weight starts melting.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
