Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

Recommended Posts

I just moved across the border into Wisconsin from Illinois. I have two insurances, united health care and Medicaid through the state insurance. I have started this journey in Illinois and am still an Illinois resident. Since united health care I have to pay the entire amount because our plan doesn't have co pays anymore I'm pretty sure I'm relying on state insurance to pay for this. Here's the dilemma: do I switch over to Wisconsin residence and start the process again in a new hospital because it will be a different insurance through the state? Or stay in Illinois until the surgery is done with? I also have to register lil guy for school and think about switching everything over to the new house. I like this hospital but I feel like with goin to check ups it'll be easier to do that with changing to Wisconsin but it will take longer. What should I do??

My doc said in the info class not to go to far. Said if you need doc help you don't need to travel to far.

I know here in north Carolina Medicaid does not pay in other states. How far are you into the process? And other state Medicaid will not pay in nc. I work at and orthopedic and get couple of out of state Medicaid and it never pays

Well I just had the info meeting then the consult. They are sending it to an insurance now. I guess if i got all te requirements done and went back to insurance through a different hospital it would be ok. But I like the hospital I'm going through now, I may go to the info meeting for a different hospital soon.

I would most likely get Medicaid in Wisconsin after I became a resident and have a hospital maybe closer to our house

Where ever you feel most confertable is where you should go. Maybe check out the other hospital just to see how they compare!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
