I'm getting my 4th fill tomorrow, and my doc has never pulled Fluid out to see what's still in the band. I'd like to know if that's commonly done???

My fill doc always does it... this way she can see if there is a leak.. its always the same amount as she had put in before.

I had my 5th fill last Tuesday...I was at 8cc's and when he pulled out the Fluid there was 7cc's that only came out. He said some can evaporate. He put me back to 8cc's. He always aspirates what is in there first and then puts it back in with whatever else he's adding.

Yep, my doctor always takes all the fill out first to make sure the amount that is supposed to be in there is in there and verify I am not leaking or anything.

I've had a total of 4 fills. Obviously there was nothing to pull out the first fill but the 2nd and 3rd he did. On the 4th, the nurse said she didn't need to take it out and just added. Since I feel more restriction, I guess it's OK. If ever in doubt though, you should ask your doctor why he does/doesn't.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
