Possible Lay Off At Work...

Recommended Posts

My husbands work has been very slow lately and they are talking about possible layoffs that are permanent. Im really scared because my insurance is through his work...if he loses his job there's no way I could get this surgery done its way to expensive. Im so upset...im so close to surgery....should be coming up in september is what were thinking. For all the people who are religious out there if I could please ask you to pray for me and mu husband that'd be awesome, we could use all the prayers we can get. Im so discouraged now :( im 22 years old and weigh 329 pounds I need this surgery done really bad.

If your husband gets laid off he should still he should still have the ability to get cobra, this is where you pay for the benefits. It can be rather costly, but cheaper than the surgery. Best of luck !!!

Some insurance companies will let you keep your coverage for a month or two. You may need to check into.

Thanks everyone for the support. He just found out the other day that quite a few people are being let go but he's not one of them. Thank god! Their work will continue to be slow for the next 2 or 3 months probably but its better than being let go for good. I just keep telling him to hang in there and be happy he has a job because alot of people don't. I just gotta keep praying.

Thanks. I just hope things get better...we have been looking to buy a house now for about 2 yrs and we found the perfect one and they are willing to go down on it and its such a great deal but with the surgery expenses coming up and work being slow its so hard....its hard to pass up this great deal but at the same time idk how we would pay for it... so im a little sad.

I am sending prayers. The surgery is expensive but as long as the insuance does their part, you are only required to pay the allowable part. I just had my surgery and I do insuance for a children's hospital so I had to go to an adult hospital and pay 20% the hospital billed 68,000 so far after they pay their part I am only responsible for 1200. Still waiting for final processing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
