Did Anyone Cheat On Preop Diet?

Recommended Posts

I am becoming obsessed about the preop diet. I am doing liquids now but did eat meats. Plus I am pms-ing and have Water weight. I am scared I won't shrink the liver enough.

Maybe I just need a Xanax lol

When I had my lap band placed, I did 2 weeks of mostly liquids the program had set for me. Tempted as I was, I did not cheat. Not even once. But my diet included veggies, Jello, sf puddings so that I could at least chew something. I had mor issues with wanting to eat after surgery than on the diet. I'm not looking forward to just liquids again but I can do it. So can you! Just think of what you're gaining

I did indeed cheat because thats the last time you can eat some of those things I had popcorn and candy at the movies 2 days before my surgery!!

I was very tempted to cheat but I didn't! I was so proud of my self.

About two days before surgery I was so tempted to attack my daughters happy meal but the I had visions of them opening me up and finding a chicken nugget in my stomach. Lol

The best thing to do is probably follow your surgeon's instructions. My surgeon didn't require a two week pre-op liquid diet of any kind. I survived :)

Lol I find I look at people's food. I feel like I am a crazy person :) glad my husband isn't home yet from base, he is coming home on leave just in time.

Diesel, what did you cheat with?

Pony, do you had no pre op diet? Were you very heavy? I am starting at 250. But they require it for all their patients.

I am do grateful for this app!

Army wife-my surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet whatsoever other than following the FDA's food plate (the healthy way to eat). He doesn't need to shrink the liver. He's just that awesome! It must be torture for you guys to have to deplete yourselves two weeks prior. I would think that would make you very weak for surgery. But I would follow the instructions you are given. Compliance is difficult but it's also successful. Best wishes!

I didn't cheat as far as the liquid diet because I took that as my first big challenge. 2 days before surgery we went to El Paso and I ate a big meal at Famous Dave's BBQ as my last splurge and also as a celebration of not cheating and losing the weight. I can say if you are faithful to your liquid diet you WILL lose the needed weight. Don't let the evil cheater voice get you off course. You got this!

The liquid diet is very challenging . Yesterday was my daughters first holy communion and we had a party with a lot of really good Italian food . I ate a very little .

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
