I was banded Feb 2nd of this year, I just wanted to say OUsooner a.k.a Neal, you're one of my inspirations for doing this, if I only have half your success, I will be greatful, I love my lap-band, 20 lbs in 1 month, a true life saver

Great to see another Sooner on board! You are off to a great start and look forward to watching you progress.

Just wanted to update as well. I went to a Dallas Stars game yesterday. It was great. Pre-band, I had to squeeze into the seats at sporting events. At the game yesterday, I sat down with no problems and had probably 6 inches or more between me and the arm of the seat. What a great feeling. Here is a pic we had taken. I actually have a jersey, but its a XXL and they run big so you can imagine that I swim in it now that I wear a medium. Time for a new one! :)

Pretty soon, Neal, someone is going to suggest that you put a few pounds back on, just so you'll stop making the rest of us look like chumps. Damn man, are you sure you don't have a tapeworm or something? All kidding aside, dude, you ROCK. I'm a Stars fan too (great come from behind victory on Sunday), and I know what you mean about not fitting into stadium seats. I've avoided all airline travel for the past 5+ years, but am ready to fly again.

Finally got below 280 this past weekend; that was the hardest 10 pounds to lose by far. Weight loss is a tricky business, as we all learn in time. Eating less is not always the right solution; it has a lot to do with exercise levels and metabolic rate. The band is the greatest tool by far; it gives me confidence that once the weight is off, it will stay off. I never had that confidence pre-band, so any diets I embarked on always failed.

Onward, brothers..

One thing that happened after banding was when I got back on solids I just flat quit losing. I started walking(like the 10,000 step/day thing) and I started losing again. I've had on fill and right now the only thing it does is let me know that I've either eaten to fast or did not chew enough. I've kept calories at no more than 1500 and usually below 1000 and it was weird how I still did not lose any weight. But that has changed and I'm back on track. Looks like less beer, more golf, and a lot more walking.

No one liked beer more than I. I was a volume drinker and the band has changed all that. I tried to drink one at a super bowl party and could not get half of it down before I was bloated to the max. Switched to vodka and crystal lite. Dr. says carbonated stuff can stretch out the pouch so I'm careful now. When I get down to my goal maybe I might rethink it.

Good Luck

how tall are you? terry

OK guys, Less than 6 hours and I am in for surgery!!!!!!!

Been working all night shoveling snow. Been waiting all year for this storm and it dumps on the night before my surgery. Drank my last shake at 2am and after all the shoveling I am dying for something to drink. Oh well, guess I will have all I can drink in about 14 hours:)

Neal, you really are what I strive for with this band. I have not seen 180 since hi school, glad to see I might be able to get close again

Chris

Well guys, I go for my first fill on thursday. I've hit a plateau at 259. I've been here for 3-4 weeks and I'm starting to feel the hunger for snacking.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
