I am sorry you are feeling this way but understand what you are going through. Keep positive! I have found a lot of support on this site! I am starting over with a new program myself and the words of wisdom here is invaluable!

I originally set out to have the sleeve. When I had my first appointment with my surgeon, he said I might want to consider gastric bypass because I had severe acid reflux and sometimes the sleeve makes it worse. He also said the gastric bypass usually has better weightloss results, and they are more likely to be long term. So, thats why I chose the gastric bypass, among other things. But, there is a lot more research and longterm studies out for the gastric bypass than the sleeve, although many people seem to do just fine with the sleeve. Ultimately it comes down to you and your specific comorbidities as well. I don't know about the sleeve, but I know many who had diabetes gets better almost instantly with gastric bypass. So, do some research on both surgeries and discuss them with your surgeon. Hope this helps!

I chose the gastric bypass because you lose weight quicker and they have seen better results with it. The sleeve wasn't even an option for me where im from, its more for people that are in the higher 400's is what my doctor told me. I orginally wanted to get the lap band surgery but it takes longer for the weight to come off with that surgery and I would like it to come off quickly. To answer your question about the cold....my surgeon told me that they would not perform the surgery if I was sick at all or lacking in B12. But every surgeon is different.

Hi there! My name is Erin, and I totally know what your going through. Im a single mom too and was petrified up until they knocked me out in pre-op and wheeled me in the OR. They had me wait 4hours longer than expected and the patient before me coded!!!! I even remember making the joke if we didn't get this show on the road I was so nervous I'm gonna jump off this gurney and run to the nearest buffet! Lol. But I knew in my heart this was chance at a healthier life......and I better go for it. Also I knew ahead just how scared I would be so I made a list of all my reasons I chose this decision......and reading it before surgery helped to calm my nerves. I am an RN ......and I think that made matters worse. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.....lol. If you need anyone to talk to just let me know. I know its hard to describe to other people what your feeling when it comes to weight loss surgery, unless they are going through the same thing. Good luck!

Thank you so much. My mom knows i am having gastric bypass but dad does not we are not telling him till that day. He has anxiety and he does not need to stress about me. I am finding it hard because i can not talk to mom. Dad is always around. My friends do not get it they are all thin. My sisters do not understand but they are supportive.

Try some brandy in your tea. The more the merrier.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
