Hello everyone, What brands and flavors of Protein Shakes do you use and like? I know we all have different tastes but, it would be interesting to know the brands that are most popular. Where did you purchase them?

I used before and right after, and occasional now, the EAS carbadvantage. You can get them at Walgreens, Walmart, and sam's club. I found they are cheaper at Walmart than Walgreens and then even cheaper in bulk at sam's club. I love the ready to drink vs powder because I always thought that the powder was gritty. These are smooth and taste good. vanilla and chocolate. I also bought a "flavorless" Protein at Vitamin Shoppe. I did put it in Jello and what not but it does change the flavor completely. Hope this helps!

I used to buy from GNC and get amplified whey Protein but that costs like 50 bucks the GNC person said its better and absorbs better but can't afford that so I get just whey generic kind at target for 16 bucks!! I drink a shake and just get vanilla!! At GNC they have crazy good favors. I had my surgery 10 months ago and still losing 1.5 pounds a week total of 113 pounds good luck

Oh the GNC and generic aren't as greedy

Gritty

Just be careful if you're going to try Protein Shots. My surgeon said that the collagen based Protein is not nearly as good for you as the whey. Even though there is whey usually it's not enough to do any good.

Oh yeah, I personally like EAS and Atkins. But I recommend trying several kinds and flavors. My surgeon recommends Unjury but I'm not a big fan of it. She likes mixing strawberry powder with lemonade crystal light. It's actually pretty good.

I just tried the Pure Protein chocolate and really like that one. They have Vanilla also. Each has 25G of protein. I got it at Walmart. I also tried Matrix Mint Choc cookie and it was good too but, more for an afternoon shake for me.

My favorite is GNC Amplified. It goes cost more but I think it is worth it. It mixes up better and not gritty. My favorite flavor is Cookies and cream and then banana cream is my second choice.

I just picked up two containers of Syntrax Nectar...hoping they'll be good for a fruity flavored Protein. I don't want all chocolate so need to mix it up. I also bought the unflavored in hopes to mix it with chicken broth or other foods like oatmeal, cream of wheat etc when it's allowed.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
