Anyone w/ fibro who has gotten the surgery? I'm a little worried that I will be in more pain then what is expected.

My surgery is on the 15th of this month. The only thing they had me stop taking was my naproxen but I was able to switch to ultrum until after the surgery. They said my Cymbalta was ok. Anything aspirin or ibuprofen based is out because it thins your blood. And you only have to stop 10 day before the surgery, although I know it can seem like forever if u can have your pain meds

I take lyrica for my fibro - my surgeon had me take (4) 75 mg capsules in pre-op. That knocked my butt out for the rest of the day and night - helped with surgical pain and fibro. Normally, I only take 1 capsule every 4-6 hours.

I had the surgery on Sept. 23rd. I was truly expecting that my fibromyalgia would make my pain skyrocket. Quite the opposite happened! Most of my post-op pain was from gas (which I felt as pain in my left shoulder.), and not even my stomach! I have not had any fibromyalgia issues yet, and I will be two weeks post-op on Monday. (Oh, and I have only taken a pain killer twice, both for ligaments in my groin area that I hurt walking this last week!)

I had my surgery 8/8. I have both fibro and RA. I take Cymbalta (and a bunch of other meds). The only thing I had to stop taking was my anti inflammatory. My doc said they didn't want me to get an ulcer in my pouch. I've cut ally felt better since I've lost a little weight and eating healthier. I had an appt w my rheumy this past week and he says the Bari docs all have different opinions about the anti nflammatories but he didn't think they would be a problem. I've opted to not use them right now. I still take the prednisone and methotrexate as well as the Cymbalta.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
