People don't really die from VSG right?

Recommended Posts

Any medical procedure has associated risks-I had never had surgery prior to my sleeve and had no idea how I would react to anesthesia, I was really scared! I decided to have my surgery because I knew I could not spend one more minute in the body I had.....my surgery went great and 9 months-92 lbs later I would not change a thing. Good luck in making the best decision for you!

I use humor to deal with the stress and I was very calm when going into surgery blood pressure was very good they where shocked. I just kept joking how I was going to have an amazing nap and I couldn't wait to catch up on sleep. On a serious note I did find that reach and being informed helped me knowledge is power. I studied and considered surgery for a year and a half before actually having it now I'm 5 days post feeling amazing minus a few aches and pains wouldn't change it for the world! I did get that good sleep too LOL.

Just keep telling yourself that statistically you are far more likely to die in an automobile accident on the way to the surgery, than you are to die as a result of the surgery. Despite some of the dramatic posts you read on this site, most of us breeze through the surgery.

Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

No deaths in the practice. Again highly capable surgeon. It's very reassuring but i'm still nervous as hell

They make wonderful pre-op drugs after the anesthesiologist sees you, you will get them and feel floaty....high as a kite. You'll do great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
