Overeating

Recommended Posts

What are most people's symptoms after eating too much or the wrong foods? If I am too hungry and start eating I will not realize I am full until it is too late - I have had sweats and feel super uncomfortable etc nauseated - will later end up with diarrhea? I don't throw up but wish I could - what do other experience ? Is this normal

I would say you have probably been overeating. I did the same thing. It takes time to figure out when you are full. If you sneeze, get a runny nose, or hiccup these are cues to stop eating. Don't eat one more bite......this occurs because the vagus nerve is irritated. It's not the end of the world but it is your first clue to stop. It took me a little time to figure this out and you just want that last bite because you can't believe your already done. So it is very easy to do. I would also feel like my food was clear up to my throat and if I burped it was going to come up! The thing is it takes a few minutes for this sensation to happen before you realize you are full. Eat slower, chew really well and make it small bites. After a few minutes reevaluate if it feels like you are approaching fullness. If this is the case then stop. In a couple of more minutes you will feel completely full without over doing it. The diarrhea you are talking about is that because you were eating something sweet? If so, that could be dumping but that usually occurs rather quickly after eating it. This hasn't happened to me so maybe someone else can advise you a little better on this one. I hope this helps and good luck! :)

my nut said eat every two hours so you do not get too hungry. so i had to get a reminder on my phone to remind me. usually its a mini Protein Bar, or a cheese stick, nothing big. but it prevents the blood sugar drop so i do not over eat.

Thank you, this info just made me realize that I'm constantly full all day. No wonder I feel so bloated under my boobs. I need to slow down, right???

Are you taking an acid reducer? If not, that is why you are always hungry. The acid in your stomach makes you feel like you are hungry but that is not what it is. Talk to your doctor but a lot of us take an acid reducer to help this. One day I was constantly hungry to the point of driving me crazy and I ate to help but it never helped. Then I realized I hadn't taken my medicine, I took it and within 15 minutes the hunger feeling was gone and I felt total relief.

Thanks for this because I have stopped taking mine but looks like I need to get my meds refilled. I take Gas X often and felt that I was just taking to many acid revilers so I stopped taking the RX.

I like these ides! I too have been sneezing or hiccup. Bingo! That's my clue. Are we on these acid reducers for life? I think I need 2 Prilosec a day. I agree that it makes me feel hungry.

I think the length of time is a case by case thing. I have been on acide reducers forever and probably will be.

I don't believe you would be on acid reducers for life unless you had to use them b4 surgery. Otherwise you should be able to get off of them eventually when everything is healed and your feeling almost 100%.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
