ARE YOU GETTING SLEEVED ON OCTOBER 16, 2013?

Recommended Posts

Hello Sleeve Siblings,

There are several threads for everyone getting sleeved in the month of Oct 2013. I post in those as well but I wanted a consolidated thread for those of us who are getting sleeved on October 16th.

I'm super excited about having the sleeve surgery!! My ten day liquid diet begins next Sunday. I can have six Protein shakes, clear broth, and all of the Water I want B). I think that this is going to be the hardest part for me. I'm dreading that I'll feel like I'm starving all day for ten days. Hopefully ketosis kicks in day one for me, though it'll probably day three a girl can hope right.

Do you have a pre-op diet? When does it start? What does it consist of? Fears? Anxiety?

Feel free to share whatever you'd like.

Hello Sleeve Siren!

You sound so positive and up beat ... I am counting down the minutes until I will be "sleeved". Tomorrow morning at 7:30am I am scheduled for surgery. I am so ready too! Lots of emotions and feelings going on but keep assuring myself that the " prize" is just around the corner.

You mentioned how the liquids went. Actually my experience has been quite " freeing". Almost like an alcoholic giving up alcohol. I just kept reminding myself "one day closer" to freedom from all that "we" have endured being "fat". With each sip of Protein drink I rather enjoyed not having to deal with food. Didn't have to look at it, smell it and actually declined one of the roughest 2weeks at work with everyone bringing in treats and goodies. Saying no was so empowering. The past 4days I have done Clear Liquids, crystal lite, Water, tea, bouillon. My day is finally here and I am actually looking forward to Protein drinks.

To make them interesting and tasty i purchased the powered mix from Sams club in vanilla and chocolate. the vanilla i would change up adding different extracts. My favorite drink was the vanilla mix, coffee and carmel extract mixed with powdered milk, and a few ice cubes in the blender. Yummooo! I do sing praises to the wonderful delicious taste of the brand that I have been using. I highly recommend "Muscletech" to everyone. It taste NOTHING like a Protein Drink. No yucky after taste, just a wonderful tasty milkshake!!! Ok well, sorry about the longgg post. Good Luck!! It's all in your attitude and I believe you will do just fine.

I've got a Protein sample station on my kitchen counter. I'm trying to find one I really like. I'll have to try and locate the Muscle Tech you love. And your recipe does sound delish. Congrats to you. I hope all goes well tomorrow!!

Hi I am getting sleeved on 10/16 too!!! I am excited, nervous and anxious! I do not have to do a two week liquid diet, but I am on a low carb 1200 calorie diet for two weeks starting 10/2. I was thinking if doing a liquid diet the day before surgery just to prepare myself.

My Sleeve is scheduled for Oct 7th....I had to start with all liquids and Protein Shakes the first five days. On day 6 I have to have 3 Impact Advance Recovery drinks along with liquids (broth, sf Jello, sf Popsicles, sf pudding, Crystal Light and water).

Anyone else getting surgery on the 7th?

I'm a 10/16 sleever too. I start my preop this Wed and have a 1200 cal/day "diet". Supposed to be lower carb...well rounded.....then I have a 2 day liquid on the 14th and 15th. I'm challenged this week as I'm traveling all week. My drs office did say they allowed one "cheat" day....hopefully I won't need it, but just in case :) This week is going to fly for me. I've got meetings in Ct. all week...fly all day tomorrow and then meetings galore until Friday when I fly back. Hopefully I wont be fixated on food. I've gotta admit the last couple weeks (since getting the final green light on surgery) I've been out of control....I want to taste this that and the other thing....deep down I know I need this tool to make me stop and help me get where I want to get....one day at a time....baby steps :)

lol, I know I was shocked when I was told I didn't have to do two weeks of liquids because most people on here have to. I am still going to prepare myself as much as possible.

Hey there! Same here, Oct 15th & starting (mostly) liquid diet on Oct 2. I can drink any Water or crystal light, plus 3 shakes & 2 fat free yogurts a day. Curious about what the issue is with red & purple drinks?? Surgery in Connecticut.

My understanding is no red or purple liquid the last 2 to 3 days of the liquid diet due to the cleanser you have to take and the meds that I have to take during my stay to check for leaks. I left that paper work on my desk at work ill look at it then update more on the red and purple. What are your requirements.

Yeah I'm not having a food funeral or last supper but I am making the most of every meal ie everything has to be delicious I'm not settling for Cereal or Peanut Butter and jelly this week. I'm trying to eat one of my favorite foods at every meal but not over indulge. I keep telling myself, "you've eaten this for thirty years you know what it tastes like, you'll have it again next year but you'll look and feel oh so fabulous while doing so ????."

Just started my preoperative diet today... 3 shakes, 2- 100 cal yogurts in between. I was doing fine, then my son came home and wanted a snack so I poured him a small bowl of goldfish crackers... Caught myself almost putting a few in my mouth.... Old habits!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
