Stupid Question

Dame... I also do yoga... it feels so good! I waited a few weeks before I was able to do the most basic poses. It probably took me a good month to do anything that involved stretching my abdomen.

Good luck with your surgery! :clap2:

Thanks Drewslou. I really enjoy yoga. Too bad I am going to miss it for a couple weeks it seems. I guess I will have to take it slow and steady before I stretch myself into trouble. :D Thanks for the advice one yoga fan to another.

QUOTE]

if you do yoga you would see what I mean....and if you do do yoga and you don't see the difference I question what type of yoga you are doing

Didn't mean to get YIKEAS and YOWZA'S. I WAS JOKING! I thought I may have hit a cord with a REAL YOGA GAL. Look at my first post. All I said is I was able to go back to doing the things I did prior. If you do yoga on a regular basis I think it is different than if you just want to start a class a week after surgery. I didn't make the statement so I would get KUDO'S for being SUPERWOMAN, it was just the truth. I thought maybe you wanted opinions from both sides. SORRY TO ANYONE WHO I OFFENDED, I WASN'T TRYING TO COMPARE YOGA TO LAWN MOWING. I was just trying to translate that I felt great after surgery, and everyone is different. SORRY AGAIN!

hmmmmm I was not on the attack. yeeeesh. I too was exercising (elliptical and biking very very soon after surgery - since I was doing it prior to)....I was only answering Dame J's question and wanted to point out the difference of doing cardio with that of doing something that will involve a LOT of ab muscle work, such as Yoga!!!! The emphasis was on yoga because that was her original question. Don't take it so personally...it wasn't an attack.....(you'd KNOW if I was attacking you!!) (besides which I'm Canadian and don't do go on the offensive!). I know lots of ppl get up and get moving right after surgery (myself included) but I wanted to make sure she knew the difference between that and doing crunches (as an example!).

Holy Moly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
