Where do you learn/find all the info?

Recommended Posts

Read things all over, don't eat this, make sure you take these Vitamins. Don't drink carbonated drinks, yes you can, don't use a straw, it will blow up your tummy, I use one, ect... My head is spinning!!! I am doing a self pay in Mexico, and have no idea where to look for the true info. I don't have the pre op support and will get post op through email, but I am already feeling so far behind. What do I do? Where do I look? I just want a point form dos and fonts list, lol.

The Big Book of the Gastic Sleeve (Authored by this site's founder) is a dang good place to start. Has ALL the info you need to start.

Then research on line. You'll find Guide Sheets and instructions from many good programs (Try Johns Hopkins Bariatric center), and

HERE. What you get here will be varied advice. You'll build your plan based on your experience!

I went to Mexico, My doctor sent me home with instructions. I also LOVE watching Dr Alvarez' youtube channel Endobariatric He also has a weekly live radio show and does a podcast of it at obesitychat.com You can send him questions and he'll answer for you. Though if you just go to his youtube channel nearly every topic imaginable is addressed

My program gives you info in stages. I meet my surgeon this Thursday, where I get a huge chunk of info added to my binder book they gave me. Then I get the pre and post op diet stuff on the 11th.

That said, I've been watching all of Dr Alverez's Endobariatric channel on YouTube. Love his videos, makes me feel more prepared since I don't have any of my surgery or post op info yet.

I went to Mexico, and my Surgeon, Dr. Alvarez sent me home with his book and the stage by stage diet progression information, post op meds, a gym bag and a pillow to brace my tummy on the trip home. Most Docs have their own pre and post op instructions. You can learn a lot by watching Dr. Alvarez's videos on YouTube, and he'll respond to emails and answer any questions you might have. He also has a radio show on Monday nights where he answers questions sent in via Facebook. You don't have to be his Patient... he's attentive to anyone wanting to learn about the gastric sleeve journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
