We can never, for the rest of our lives use a straw? That's crazy and sad.

Depends on your surgeon. I've been "using" since 3 weeks post op. I get way more air without than with. My surgeon says ok after a few weeks but some have people convinced that your sleeve will get stretched out and your stomach will grow back.

I guess I need to get back on track!

I guess after you wrote your cheating ways here it made you feel a lil guilty? Now that you recognize it get back up, dust yourself off and remember why you decided to get sleeved. Good luck.

Dont you know we are not supposed to use straws!! They will blow up your tummy!!

True story about soft drinks unrelated to the confessional part of this thread...When I went to the information session about VSG, the doctor said he had had the VSG surgery. He was sipping on a diet Coke during the seminar when he shows a slide about forbidden foods and it mentioned soft drinks. I thought that was ironic.

I eat hummus, which my nut considers a carb, and occasionally steal a bite of calzone or fried cheese stick. I haven't done a lick of real cardio. I too count my coffee towards my liquids. And there was the cookie incident.

Last night, I had 3 rum and diets... With a straw! I stirred them so it was fairly flat, but da*m it was been a rough week at school. Kids were naughty little boogers! My colleagues and I needed to let off some steam. I was just going to have one, but... OPPS!! At least no appetizers were included :-)

Dudes! I am so very proud of you all. But really? 'I ate some ice cream'. 'I ate some cheese goo on a cracker'. Damn, I was wanting to see 'Yeah, you know, I went to Crystals and ate 25 of their cheeseburgers. I washed this down with a large coke (through a straw), large fries and had apple pie for dessert'. You lot are positively saintly!!!! :) x

how in the world could you fit in even a fraction of that amount of food with the sleeve....I can't imagine anyone doing that and not bursting their sleeves wide open.....lol

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and had a Sonic cheesestick TWICE this week.

I always chew gum - but my nut never mentioned this.

I always use straws - since bout a week post op.

I rarely drink the Protein - they make me so sick!! But I feel soooo guilty about it...just not quite sure what to do...can't make myself sick

I made homemade German chocolate cake and frosting yesterday and totally licked the batter bowl and frosting pot when I was done!

I love this thread! It really helps to know that everyone else has their slip ups too. When I "cheat" it has to be worth it so if there's potato salad at work, I taste it. If it's good, hence "worth it", I have some. When I cheat, it's usually on a carb. I LOVE and miss potatoes and pasta!! I always eat my Protein first but every once in a while I allow myself mashed potatoes, potato salad, stuffed potatoes or spaghetti noodles. Oh and I will eat one cheddar bay biscuit from Red Lobster with my crab! That's 8 carbs but SO worth it!!

4days post op I a bite of a lasagna I made and it went down ok. About 45 seconds later I had a killer preassure in my upper tummy. By my breast bone I thought I was going die. Never again

oh where to begin. I've got two years plus on many people here. I drink with a straw all the time (but I didn't for the first few months) I had to have a come to my senses talk with myself that I can no longer drink more than two drinks in a couple of hours since I weigh a lot less than i used to. I count my caffeinated coffee toward my fluids for the day. I hate taking my Calcium and have to talk myself into it. (It doesn't fit in my pill holder so it's an extra step to count them out and take them.) If it's on the no list' date=' I have eaten it, including celery, coconut, spicy, you name it. I ate Pork rinds for months and counted the Protein until someone mentioned that the Protein in pork rinds is not absorbed so it doesn't count. I had to reset my bounce range because after getting to goal I spent some time eating enough crap to sink a battleship. Lynda[/quote']

Protein in pork rinds doesn't count???? We'll bust my bubble why don't ya! Crap.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
