Thrush/white tongue

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.. I'm just over 2 mths out, and my tongue still doesnt look "normal"... Treated for thrush a little over a month ago, looks better, but not back to where I was before surgery. Does this eventually get better? And same for ridges on my nails now.. Please tell me this all goes away! Anyone?!! I appreciate your feedback!

I actually just went to an ENT doc today. I was never diagnosed with thrush. What they said my white tongue was is just bacteria. He said your body needs to adjust to the way things are now. I'll be 4 months out Monday and it is a lot better, but still there a bit. I have a tongue brush and found some Oral-B tongue foam cleaner I use every day.

Insofar as the ridges on your nails, are you taking a Biotin supplement? For thrush, I recommend Probiotics, and eliminating any sugar. Also are you taking any antibiotics?

Yes lawd! I was concerned about my tongue bc it had a bad odor, taste, and whiteness. It was ridiculous...Im guessing its just from changes

Have you tried a toungue scraper? I had this problem too after I finished the liquid portion of my diet. I used a toungue scraper each time I brushed my teeth and my toungue was back to normal in a couple of days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
