I am 3 weeks post op and I'm on soft foods....this morning I are an over hard egg and 1 piece of morning star sausage.....I felt full.....however it seemed only about 2 hrs later I felt what I think is hungry with my stomach making "growling" noises.....is it normal to feel "hungry"....

I sure hope it is normal, because I get hungry about every 2-3 hours. I eat something small, enough to safisty me, but not a meal every 2-3 hours. Yep, I get that rumble (almost a kind of hurt) hunger pang, and when Matilda (the name I have for my new stomach) gets hungry, boy does she let me know!! I have noticed that my hunger pangs are much more pronounced now that my stomach is smaller. The first hunger pang I had after surgery scared me to death---it hurt and I thought something was wrong with me. :) I eat a tablespoon or so of Peanut Butter on a saltines, an ounce or 2 of cheese, half a Protein Bar, etc. whenever I get the hungries every 2-3 hours. I really hope this is normal, because I have been doing this since my surgery. I have found it helps me to snack on small stuff about 5-6 times a day instead of having 3 meals a day.

My plan has me eating every two-three hours... 3 meals and 2-3 snacks.... The grumbling stomach doesn't necessarily mean you are hungry... I was reading that in one of my pamphlets... It just means things are moving around, which is good!

I'm glad I'm not alone.....I thought they remove the hunger hormone but I feel exactly what you are describing.....I try to do the same.....

Thank goodness I thought I was the only weirdo! I feel hungry every 2-3 hours! My stomach actually feels hungry... Honestly I hate that feeling it's weird but it's more bothersome now then it was before. I wish I didn't feel it as often :(

I eat 5 mini meals a day, every 2-3 hours hours. I don't allow myself to become too hungry because if I become too hungry I over eat and will get sick and I am happy to say it hasn't happened yet and I don't want it to happen.

Boy am I glad to read this! I have been struggling with this the last few weeks. Those painful hunger pangs are really something, much more bothersome than when I had a full size stomach. I am going to try what you do and eat every few hours to stay ahead of the hunger. I'm on an acid blocker so I don't think it's that. I just think since our stomachs only hold a small amount it moves thru more quickly.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
