1 week after vsg and i'm feeling fine

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved on 9/16 and the surgery went smooth. I had minimal pain after and once the pain pump was removed I didn't use any other pain meds. I walked like fiend in the hospital and had some gas and shoulder pain on the second day. Once my drain was removed all shoulder pain immediately disappeared.

Upon coming home I had trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position but as my incision sights heal this is a non issue now. Physically I get tired quicker than before as I am still healing and I am adjusting to that, not being able to walk long distances with my dog sucks as does relying on the husband to do the laundry due to the 10lb weight restriction.

food, that is the strangest thing. Tracking my food in myfitnesspal is weird because my calories are so low. I am tolerating everything and have had no issues with nausea or Constipation. Actually I have had only very loose loose/watery stool. Oh and pain when I sneeze. I lost 11 pounds this week!!!!!!

Sounds great!!! I'm 2 wks post op tomorrow & my recovery sounds just like yours. The being tired easy really bums me out! At my 1 week checkup the dr said of course that was normal & will subside. Today is my first day back at work & I'm feeling good so far. I'm down 19 lbs since surgery /lost 20 in pre-op diet too for a total of 39 so I'm pleased. Keep up the good work & congrats!

I get exhausted over nothing. If I take a shower, I have to sit down and rest. I don't know about you guys, but Protein is my lifesaver! Once I get some protein in me I have more energy. The loose poo is no fun tho.

lawree,

I am curious as to how many calories you are getting in a day. I am 2 weeks out and only down 8 pounds. I have been getting my Protein and Water requirements in but only at about 400-500 calories per day. I have been at 250.2-250.4 for the last 6 days. So Im wondering if maybe I am not getting enough calories? Thanks! and congrats on your recovery, mine has been very smooth also!

Hey. I'm in the 300-500 calorie range. I sip Water throughout the day, but that is the same as pre surgery. It seems like I only eat Protein. Lol

I'm one week out and my weight loss has stopped. I feel blah and have no appetite. I do struggle to get in the Protein and liquids, I have to admit. When I breathe deeply, I feel pain in my left shoulder - actually I constantly have pain in my left shoulder. I thought the "gas" would be gone by now. I'm feeling a bit of pain in my left side back area as well.

Thoughts?

Maybe you are in the very common "mental and emotional" phase after WLS. Focus on the program and all will pass... if not consider talking with a counselor. Hang in there!

I am in the same boat-- 15 days and 11 pounds down. But I lost ten on pre-op diet, so I am fine with it. As long as it's going, i don't care the pace! Good luck!

I'm 6 days out and have the same issue with shoulder pain when I take a deep breath, I'm pretty sure it's gas and the more we walk the less trapped gas we have, I have only lost 3 pounds since my surgery, I'm beginning to wonder if this is normal or am I eating too much, I haven't kept track of my calories but my servings sizes are 4 ounces at a time, I'm sticking with Jello, pudding, Protein shakes, yogurt, frozen yogurt and occasionally some cottage cheese.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
