I'm having a hard time getting all my liquids in. I've gotten over 35oz today. Just liquids this evening. No Soup. How much do you try to drink a hour?

If you don't count the soup I've been eating, I'm only getting 35 oz now too. Tomorrow I'm going to measure out 5 oz at a time and try to drink that every hour I'm awake, except the 3 times I'm supposed to be eating. Hopefully that'll work

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been days since I posted' date=' I have been miserable, it hurts to drink, I can't hardly eat anything, lots of gas bubbles with every drink or bite. This morning my family made me a berry smoothie, it's the first thing I could get down without much pain. I have been waking up every two hours at night, waking up early and taking a afternoon nap. I have been feeling kinda weak, but I am sure it's from the lack of food :( I hope y'all are doing better then I have been doing. I guess the only good point in this for me so far is that I have lost a total of 16 pounds, 10 before surgery and six since. Looking for easier days.[/quote']

I hope it starts to get better soon. I have wondering about smoothies. I think I would like to try one of those. Keep trying and it will get better.

Yeah the smoothies have been easier to get down. Things are looking a little brighter. Small sips and belching afterwards. Those little air bubbles hurt. It takes me a hour and a half to eat a small container of applesauce. I went and bought a faberware cup blending set for $20 bucks and it's really does a good job a the purée, It just takes time to get the smoothie down. It's an adjustment I am slowly learning. Glad to see your doing ok :)

Good morning and Happy 1 week anniversary to you also!!! I am doing much better, it turns out that I developed acid reflux from the procedure and taking Previcid to help with all that acid bubbling up and I also was told instead of getting up at 4am to eat something to calm my tummy to take some chewable Tums and it worked!!!! I am 12lbs down in a week and things look much better! Have a great day! Nice to hear your doing well! :)

Yay anniversary! I feel like I did before my surgery. A little tired, but then I've got chronic thyroid issues. I even slept on my stomach last night!

That's what I'm eating now... Taste so good after eating chicken broth for 6 days straight. Have you had any lower abdomen cramping or felt any burning?

I don't know yet. I'm going to make me a cup here in the next ten mins. I'll let you know. I'm so excited!! I'm totally that lady on the international delight commercial buying the Creamers all up!! Lol. Plus bonus I'm done to 195.3!! Can't remember the last time I was under 200!! Happy dance ;)!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
