I was informed that by tomorrow at 1 pm I should have a finally decision (hoping an approval). I am so excited. Of course the doctor is out of the office on Tuesday, so on Wednesday I should know my surgery date. My paperwork was submitted early September so this has been a long time coming. I am glad I got my appeal in right away.

Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery on November 19th at Methodist hospital in St. Louis park,mn. Dr. Thomas Jones is my surgeon

Yay! A Minnesota buddy! I'm not sure of my surgery date yet, all the paperwork was sent today for approval... The only possible hitch is that BCBS of MN requires 6 months of medically monitored weight loss. We are trying to use my physical with my PCP before I started being seen in the bariatric center as my first one - hopefully that all works! Everything else is clear to go for (hopefully) late November! So excited! My surgery will be with Dr. Jeff Baker at Unity Hospital.

Dr Scott is out of UTSW. Are you getting nervous? I live close to Waco, in Axtell by the way.

So my surgery is Nov 1st and I started this whole process the end of July. My doctor put me on a low calorie diet and exercise and I have lost 30lbs since. I started out at 249. I had to gain weight to get my BMI to 40 so my insurance would approve the surgery since I have no other problems. Now that I have lost this weight people are telling I should postpone the surgery, that I'm not that heavy and I should try again on my own!!! I am 40 years old and I truly feel like I have tried long enough of yo-yo dieting and I ready to start a new chapter in my life. I'm just wondering if any of you guys still feel like there's still a chance to do this on your own? Or are all of you 100% about this surgery no turning back? I'm excited, nervous and I feel like I'm making the right decision but it's hard when people put their two cents in ;(

I had some of that ambivalence too, but I got over it quickly. I am ready to stop this yo-yo stuff, and the best way for me is to have the surgery. I have tried to lose weight on my own too many times, and my inability to stick to it over the long term is proof enough that IT'S NOT WORKING. Somebody famous said something like... Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. My surgery is scheduled for Nov 13th, and I'm EXCITED!

Hello to all the new November sleevers and welcome!!! I'm also a November sleever surgery date was November 30' date='2012. This was by far the best thing to happen to me!!! I'm 11 months out and down 97 lbs and lost 15 inches off my waist alone!! Some days will be hard and there will be times when you have buyers remorse, but believe me it will pass when you see the weight melting off. Just wanted to wish you all good luck on your upcoming surgeries!!

Congratulations and thanks for your words. I have been very calm up until this point and now I am freaking out a bit. First about complications and second on buyers remorse, regret, and depression.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
