So I had my appointment with the surgeon, nutritionist, insurance specialist. I have a list of things to do before my request is submitted to insurance. My surgeon requires a 10 pound weight loss, 1 hour a day exercise, and cessation of carbonated beverages prior to surgery. My out of pocket is $7k with $3500 due 1 week before surgery and the remaining $3500 will be on a payment plan. I am overwhelmed just typing all of this let alone executing it! I'm sure most of you can relate. I am just feeling blessed that even though its overwhelming, it's totally achievable! Just don't know where to start ????

honeyg317

sure is overwhelming

you have already started - and you are headed on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life :)

everything you've learned so far..from your NUT/doc.............listen, listen, listen, then "obey" all the rules!!!!!

practice

stopping drinking about 15 minutes before you eat

never drinking with your meal

not drinking for about 45 minutes after you eat

drinking at least 64 oz of H20 a day

practice

eating slowly

chewing thoroughly to pieces

little bites

putting utensils down between bites

continue to stay excited/later anxious nervous prior to WLS - good emotions

do your exercises per doc

lose the necessary 10 lbs

really important.............

realize you must be patient through your weight loss - people lose at different rates, and some/most/ALL people will have stalls

do what you are supposed to do.........the weight can't help but come off

good luck with pending surgery

speedy recovery

kathy

God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
