Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

Gail:

So do your clothes just sag on you? What are you eating?

I just ate a south beach diet lunch and I love them! I am trying to get back into the swing of things.

I ate pizza and french fries and theatre popcorn(which I have not eaten french fries in years) this weekend and I "thinK" I felt full, but I am not sure. Kinda sounds wierd huh but full with the band if VERY different for me feeling full in the old way.

I am always on cell or at the office or at home.

Were you worried because I had the flu? Or just not on lapband enough.... I went to the movies a few times, I just "had" to see the new releases. Sandra Bullock, Adam Sandler (and I forget the other two guys) (motorcycle movie and a dad and son movie) great actors!

I thought you were really bummed out and depressed about your restriction and that's why I wasn't seeing you on here. I just felt bad for you and I am glad that you seem to be doing better.

I am going to try those South Beach meals too. As soon as I get to Reno to shop again!

Bedtime....Later

Hi all! I am attending my first siminar tonight in Reno. What are your feelings on the Western Baritric Institue and the Dr's? I live in CA - but Renois our closest real town. I am over in Sierra Valley (395 to 70) Anyway, just trying to get as much info as possible and this site is really helping. Nice to know there are "real" people out there and not just the infomercials! Talk to you soon!:bolt:

Gail

Nooooooooooooooooooo....

I don't think I ever have experienced being depressed in my life. I am just really vocal about everything in my life.

I am not weighing myself until the "fill" appointment and I know I will have gained weight, but understandably I can't do this without my band being full. So it is what it is, I will lose once I hit the "sweet spot".

ktorri,

We have all had our bands done at WBI. I really like the office and Dr Ganser is AWSOME!!! He is one of the only DR's that didn't make me feal ashamed of my weight. He just asked me what I wanted to do and we talked.

Gail, 2 new grizz's huh?? VERY NICE!! We will have to get together and ride this summer. My wife has a Sportsman and my son has a Hawkeye. I would love to see some of your area, we have kinda rode the trails up around here.

Yes, the silver SE. We haven't taken them out yet. Hopefully this weekend. There are a lot of places to ride around here. They are not all chewed up like around Reno and Carson. We used to ride all around there when we lived there. This is our 4th set of quads. We decided these were probably going to be our last so we got what we wanted. They really are sharp.

Well I know you are going to feel a "connection" with whomever did your presentation tonight. Even though I went with Dr.Kozar and think he is great, if I had to do it all over again I would choose Dr. Ganser. I do know that he has a longer wait list than the other Dr's, but everything I have heard about him from the other people I talk to; I am envious of.

Just FYI each Dr. within WBI have a seperate set of their own rules and guidelines, I think they are all excellent Dr's and they are very "pro" for us obese people losing weight to get healthy.

I don't think you could choose a better team of Surgeons. I just am partial to Dr. Gansers reputation. However Dr. Kozar did my lapband and he was fantastic, I wish he was a little more leaniant with his rules, and more realistic about the thoughts fat people have about food, and that we just can't say "no" to chocolate cake; even if we tried.

Okay, so walking the marina with Chris is on my "list to do this weekend"

Did you call Ganser and ask for a closer appointment? I am curious "if" he will give you a fill because the band was so small on your stoma to begin with. You might have a better chance of getting a fill by leaving your appt as is and letting 2 more weeks go by.

Shhhhh don't tell anybody "I gained 3 1/2 pounds this week. F!!

I am trying to be better! But that 3 1/2 pound took soooo long to get off, and actually I was surprized I had not gained more... How is your progress?

Gailannr:

So did you buy some South Beach? Have you tried one yet? What do you think?

No on the South Beach. I'll have to buy it in Reno on Friday. My DH has a doc appt. So will do some serious shopping then.

NO I never called, I havn't been gaining just hovering at the same spot so I figured I would wait. We are going to Oregon the weekend before my fill and I don't think it would be a good idea to fill before I go out in the sticks for 4 days. I would rather just wait.

Sorry I can't give you a more specific time, I am having to cover for one of our guys that broke his leg a few weeks ago and went into the docs for his clearance. I just don't know if he got it or not. That will decide what shift I have to pick up

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
