Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

Recommended Posts

Chris:

Gail is recoverying but in some pain that she does not want to take loritab for becauase it makes her loopy. She is in her Hawthorne house.

Her computer is STILL down so that makes recovery even worse because you don't get the reassurance from other banders that everything is okay.

She had hernia repair which also makes things hurt more. She had fleeting thoughts of "why did I do this, and what the heck did I do this for". but I assured her those were normal feelings when you are in pain.

I told her to take more loritab and go for short slow walks. What she really needs is some bariatrix so her Protein can kick in and help heal her but she is out right now.

She is suppose to come to Reno within a couple days and I will give her some of mine.

been a few days since any posts. Gail, how you feeling??

I kinda hit a plateau here the last few days. Been keeping my weight almost the same.

Everythin else is looking good.

Had a great shake this AM. Had a 1/2 bannana with my Peanut Butter shake and it was great

the Macaronni and cheese yesterday was not nearly as good. It about made me sick, but I think I was eating too fast

Chris

Chris:

Where did you get a "peanut butter shake"~peanut butter is the most heavenly food I know...

Hi Chris,

It ended up being a AT&T 2wire problem. I got it straightened out and then it screwed up again. I called them and they got me going again. I kept losing my IP address. Anyway, it is still not real stable, I might try to get HP tech support again tomorrow. HP almost caused me to commit Hari Kari!

I haven't heard from Pam that little stinker!

I am doing well, wondering tho why the doc's office wouldn't have me scheduled for my post until almost 2 weeks. I guess it's ok though, nothing seems to be wrong. I haven't weighed myself today. I try to wait at least a couple of days. I think I have lost about 15 pounds since I started the liquid diet. I feel hungry every once in a while. But once I eat something I am good to go for several hours.

Did you have to bring in a list of your meals or food you have been eating? No one has called to see if I croaked or not! LOL

Gail

Chris and Gail;

I am doing great! Everyday I question IF the Dr. really banded me.... I have not had one problem except that one time of pouch barfing (PB) but that was 2 days post op. (My bad....)

I am in San Diego on vacation and I pray to god I have not gained weight. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. It is amazing at how I asimilate having a good time with eating. Every concession stand I see in Sea World I have to stop and buy something..... Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!! But I don't hurt when I eat (at all) and I have ZERO restriction absolute zero! I think I have a fill appt on 4/23 (5 days after Chris). I am trying to drink ALOT of Water to help suppress my appetite.

I was concerned about walking so much and my port aching but it has only ached one time since I got here and I just push it in and keep it warm until it passes.

Gail I am on cell if you need me! I will send you pics when I get back on Sunday AM. I am using hotels computer as my wireless does not work here and I know when I log onto lapband I usually sit for hours.

Gail What are you eating and how much? That is incredible that you have lost that much weight.

Hi Pam

Glad to hear from you! Now remember I was on the liquid diet since about three weeks before surgery. So that is one reason it seems I have lost a lot. Like I said I'll believe it when I see it on WBI's scale!

Glad you are having a good time. We miss you on here!

Gail

Well, I am still watching it pretty close. Mostly Soups, yogurt, cream of wheat, popsicles and fudgesicles, I did eat mashed potatoes and mashed green Beans one night. I just can't do the total liquid thing anymore. I did eat a small shake in Fallon the other day. I was so hungry so I did cheat.

shake is NOT cheating.

Fried Steak or Carnitas (fried pork) would be cheating...

Are you having any stoma pain when you eat? Or is all your swelling gone down?

What kind of restriction do you have? Do you feel "full" pretty quick. How much food make you full?

No, I haven't had any stoma pain. I have had the port pain and swelling. I can eat a good cup of something like Soup. I just gradually get full, no discomfort though. External pain only. Right now I want a bowl of honey nut cherrios sooooo bad. I know my hubby is out there having one right now! He is dieting with me and has lost about 7 lbs.

Pam,

You mentioned pushing your port in... I thought that we weren't supposed to be able to feel the port? I thought I'd heard at the seminar that they put it deep enough in that it's not detectable?

My surgery date is May 7th, not April 11th as I originally thought.. oh well, gives me more time to prepare myself!

Enjoy Sea World!

Lisa

Well guys, I was getting to thinking that everyone left me here alone :)

I was pretty busy for a bit. Got to finally go on an easy ride as per Dr Gasners instructions, so I have a pic to show. One of my better fun one of me riding

Hope you all like

I am down a few more pounds, Seems like it comes off all at once and then not again for a couple of days. Pretty strange! I need to stay off the scale for a while, but it is tough

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
