Pam,

I had some potato buds with Purreed chicken breast. This weight thing has really got me stumped though. I know I ate a little more yesterday than before, but I gained 2 lbs! Not my idea of good timing, I go to Dr Gansers today for my postop and was hoping to be down more. Oh well,

I really hate going up!

Red, I don't have any info on the TJ's out here, just what I have heard through the grapevine. I do know the TJ's in rossville is as small or smaller than Reno's.

I know, I know, I hate that scale when I am "up". But love it when I am "down" pounds.

Tell me how things go with Dr. Ganser. Have you taken off your clear bandages yet? I have little pieces of reinforced tape (scotch tape size) then a square of clear stretchable plastic wrap like stuff over them.

I took off the clear stretchable stuff this AM so my incisions could breath, and it is amazing at how sensitive they are and itchy.

I did 35 minutes on eliptical and 1.8 miles walking my dogs. I walk the dogs for their benefit and my wind down after work~it is a very leisurely walk~stop and smell the roses kind~see what is new in the neighborhood kind~see what pretty things the neighbors are doing in their front yard so I can copy them kind. :D

I try and take a different route so I don't get bored but I am the kinda person who is mundain and does the EXACT same thing over and over and over again. I have a 17 year old bichon who is overweight and a 3 yr old poodle, I keep telling myself it is all about the 17 yr old dog and her health and I am a bad dog owner if I don't take her for a walk.

So Chris;

Go read Baby Got Back recommendations of hydration and the first fill.

Did you ask them if you are suppose to be feeling restricted now? Did you tell them what you are eating? Are you eating what you are suppose to be eating?

I am not.... Dr. K. wanted me on liquids for 2 weeks (no frigging way). and I have not felt that "full feeling yet" the one that you described when you ate that Soup.< /p>

What Dr Ganser said was that I may not even need a fil. He really squeezed a smaller band on me than he usually does. He said that I will be suprised when I start eating regular foods that I will already have a pretty good restriction going efore I ever fill. Does that make any sense??

I do know that I am not feeling the restriction like I did before now that the swelling has gone down. I will feel something when I eat, but it is not the same

Lapband support Group in South Meadows Hosp is held every third Thursday of the Month starting at 6pm

Can anybody is our group commit to meeting there every month, our group to keep us accountable?

Because obviously we are not accountable to ourselves~that is what got us in this predicament~at least with peer pressure and peer praise each month we can encourage each other~what do you think??

LOL! I can't make it this month I will be in San Diego with Shamoo the whale.

Just FYI

Gail went into surgery this AM at 9 to be banded!

I think I am going over at lunch to see how she is doing, she will have to spend the night, but I have other obligations for this evening....

FYI:

I was going over to visit Gail in the Hosp and I called before going over there just to make sure;

Gail is out of surgery; I spoke with her husband; he said she had a hernia repaired too and pretty out of it "but" she is banded.....

He did not elaborate anymore than that, and I felt that my prodding was pushing the limits of me asking anymore questions.

I will cc this on March bandsters...

After much delay!!!!!My computer is still out. I guess I am going to have to bring it in for repairs. Believe me I have spent hours with HP and 2Wire!

I am at the library which is about a block away from my home so I walked here. I have had and still have pain. Dr. Ganser said to expect it because of the hernia repair.

I have absolutely no appetite but I think the pain meds may have something to do with that. They put in the small band, I think he said it was 7.9? But I am not sure.

It will be a few days before I am up and about again. I am going to sign off for now, I am pooped!

Thanks,

Gail

I kinda hit a plateau here the last few days. Been keeping my weight almost the same.

Everythin else is looking good.

Had a great shake this AM. Had a 1/2 bannana with my Peanut Butter shake and it was great

the Macaronni and cheese yesterday was not nearly as good. It about made me sick, but I think I was eating too fast

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
