i was told they would definitely take blood. i know we'll probably meet with the anesthesiologist. when i had wrist surgery, the majority of the pre-op appt was them asking about anesthesia and if i'd ever had problems with it. which, i had never been under before. but i'm on long island! so happy to have a sleeve buddy!

I was told the pretest will be discussion and understand of final things, also there will be a blood draw to make sure the person doesn't smoke. That's how it is in Albany, NY. I get my official dare Sept 18th, doctor says it will be the week of October 18th. Best of luck to you guys :-)

i just got back. they took blood, a urine sample and the nurse went over a thorough medical history with me. they also had me do a chest xray to make sure my lungs were clear, and that was it! i also got a Vitamin B12 shot when i went to sign consent at my dr's, they said my levels were low and it's helps with healing.

ReadyNew,

Ok, I got my official date! I will be sleeved October 9th!!! I'm very excited AND nervous. I have pre-open on the third. It will consist of meeting with the good ole doc that puts you to sleep, blood draw, 15 min meeting with doctor, 15 min meeting with dietician, and a prince screen to test for tobacco. That's how it is here for the program I am in in Albany, New York with Albany Medical Center. They said between all of it it is about 2-3 hours. I'll keep you updated! ;-) Hope all is well! I will be posting my before pictures soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
