October GS Pals?..

I've finally gone through all my clearances and I get my date September 18th. From what they said they expect it to be the week of October 18th. I'm soooooo anxious at this point. I started at 250, and am now 237. Any October buddies out there? :-)

Ok.. Not sure if I'm doing this correctly-- I'm totally new here - I see we both have the same surgery date! Good Luck to you :)

You're doing just fine! Good luck to you too! Message me if you have any questions, I've been getting ready for my surgery since last last January, so I can answer a lot!

I'm so nervous I finally got my date after months of the process and I'm scheduled for October 2. (2wks away) so nervous! Is it normal to be on a liquid diet because I spoke to my doctor and he only wants me on a high protein diet as opposed to the liquid

Yay, lots of October 2nd tonight! Welcome! It just depends on the doctor, and your starting bmi sometimes. My doctor has me on a kind of mixed diet. 2 Protein shake meals, and 1 regular meal consisting of 6oz of meat and 1 cup of veggies. Lots of Jello, and I can have 1/2 cup of yogurt or cottage cheese for a snack

Wow- we are on the same diet & the same surgery date .. I'm prepared to feel very hungry over the next 2 weeks :/

My doc told me to eat tons of sugar free Jello if I get hungry. All you can eat jello, any kids dream. Having anything special for dinner tomorrow night? I'm having Chinese food. Kinda a 'yay last big meal' thing

October 7 for me, too!! Don't know about my preop diet yet, but I've been trying out protein concoctions, making a few things to freeze for later. I'm looking forward to it...not really that anxious since I went through this before with the band in 2009 and only remember a few highlights. I had a quilt ready to be quilted, so I could pick that up while recovering and have something to do with my hands besides eating!

Oct 21st for me!

I decided to begin my 2week pre-op a day and a half early. My liver US said something about having a 'fatty liver' - I figured I could begin shrinking my enlarged liver - it will help w surgery. I love the idea posted above about having a project planned to do during the times of hunger. I turn to food for everything .. So the more occupied I am, the better

My first appt is Oct. 1st. This is the same surgeon that did my mothers surgery. I am expecting Oct 23 to be my date!

bnape, I'm actually starting my preop diet 2 weeks early, because I also have a fatty liver and want to shrink it as much as possible before surgery. So I'm doing two Protein shakes, and some other high protein/low fat Snacks (jerky, LF mozz cheese, LF greek yogurt) and a meal of lean protein and veggies. Hoping to lose a good bit of weight before surgery, too. Hopefully 15 lbs isn't too idealistic :)

I'm super excited to be joining everybody here. I started this journey on July 19th and my surgery to get sleeved will be on October 16th. So just under 3 months and that's with meeting all the requirements for my insurance which is Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Tomorrow morning I am starting on low carb low fat and then on October 1st I have to start with replacing two of my meals with the liquid Protein. I'm excited to travel this journey with everybody here and hopefully be a support group to one another. My surgeon is Dr Jawad in Orlando.

I should add that my current weight is between 285-290 and I'm hoping to get that to 270-275 by surgery date.

I am also October 16th and close to the same weight. I started at 285 and lost some, down to 272 - but the doctors scales today said 275. I'm in Atlanta, GA and started the process at the end of May, I'm with Kaiser... so I had some hoops to jump through.
