Anyone from Minnesota/Midwest?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Just wondering if there were any people in my age group that are from Minnesota or the Midwest in general that would like to chat/be support buddies when needed. I've been having some difficulty staying on track now that I am no longer living with my parents and have to make my own meals. I look forward to hearing from you all!

Hello! I'm 29, from a very small town on the range! Not sure where you're located, but I'm always happy to 'meet' someone from Minnesota on here!

I'm still pre-op. Hoping to be sleeved in December. The more support we give each other, the better off we all will be!

Interesting that you're struggling now that you're 'on your own'. I have the opposite problem. Every time I go to my parents house it's full stocked with all the bad choices I could dream of!

Are you using a food tracker at all to help monitor your intake?

Best of luck to you!

I am about 90 minutes west of the Twin Cities. I had my surgery in March of 2012 so I've been post op awhile now. I don't really have the problem of getting junk food from my parents because they are both WLS patients as well. However, they can't give as much support as I am looking for because they had the duodenal switch surgery so they don't exactly get that their post op requirements are different from mine.

I try my best to use a food tracker, but I admit that it has been thrown to the side recently since I'm back in college.

Hey! I live about 2 hours north of the cities and I just got my sleeve done 1 week ago today!!! I've been pretty excited but nervous and all that stuff too! I'm more then willing to be a support buddy to you but I am fairly new at this and don't know how much I would be able to help you can I'm not as far out as you!

Well I'm always up for being buddies with anyone even interested in the surgery. Don't know how helpful a person can be until you talk to them haha

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
