Anti-Semitism In France!

Recommended Posts

It is not just my opinion, but that of every Conservative Bible theologian abd Bible scholar. It is a basic rule of inerpretation which you would have know had you bothed to research iot before you make accusations like that.

Oh pardon me Ron. You didn't say that the Bible proves that the Bible is a literal document?

You only said that the Bible interprets the Bible. Yes, I do recall you saying that part, for sure. You talked about proof so much I must have somehow mixed it all up.

So you are the source of the backup for arguing that the Bible should be taken literally. So you are stating opinion that the words are to be understood as they are written, literally. I guess I have been misunderstanding you all along. You've insisted that everyone else somehow back up their opinions but if your only back up for the lengthy ad naseum argument that the Bible is to be interpreted literally is just your opinion, I have obviously misunderstood much of what you've been arguing.

Which side of the bed did you get up on today, Ron?

Accusations? I wasn't making accusations. Straighten out your nightie. You'll feel better.

your beliefs are going to be endlessly attacked should you try to make a case for them here.

This is so true, only not in the "context" you intended, I'm sure. You are the one, Ron, who endlessly attacks other people's beliefs - even going so far as to suggest that those who do not agree with you are going to hell.

You know, you can stand up for your beliefs and preach the Gospel without being a jerk. Sanctimonious ranting will not win you any converts, nor any points with God. Jesus did not preach in that manner - why would you?

As an example, it's no secret that I am pro-life. I don't think abortion on demand should be legal. But I do not call women murderers if I learn they have had an abortion. I have no right to judge them....no right at all.

I do not know God's purpose for me. But I'm quite sure it is not to browbeat other people with the doctrine of my CHRISTIAN church, which would be an oxymoron anyway, since the essence of Christ is peace and love and tolerance.

And why, exactly, should we accept the opinion of ANY (or all) "Conservative Bible theologian(s)"? Because they say so? Because you say so? And don't say God says so, unless you can quote me chapter and verse from your LITERALLY interpreted Bible.

Carlene: It seems that some conservative Christians are not so interested in the part of the Bible that speaks to peace, love and tolerance. They are far more interested in interpreting the Bible so that they can argue their extreme views that give them the right (or "mission") to spew hell, fire and brimstone, and cast doubt on anyone who doesn't parrot their beliefs. They are a scary lot.

I'm sure our Atheist friends on LBT are getting a TON of amusement out of all this. In their "context", we have spent countless hours arguing over what a non-existent Deity "said" thousands of years ago.

In their context, this makes about as much sense as rehashing old reruns of the Simpsons to see what Bart was writing on the blackboard during the opening credits. (Yes, there are people who do that.)

"Context" and "opinion" are really kissing cousins, when you think about it.

Jesus sent his diciples out to spread the Gospel. He instructed them saying when they came to a town that did not receive them and what the had to share, they were to kick to dust off of their sandles, and move on.

It is obvious that what I have had to say is not being received here, and my time is very limited, as it is with GadgetLady as well. Therefore, I am not going to spend nearly as much time posting here as I have previously. I am not leaving the board and will be reading the posts, I am just not going to continue this endless debate with some who are so close minded to the truth.

I feel like I have been trying to describe the sunset ot a blind man. No matter what, the blind man just can't see. Not wanting to see is another matter. I have allowed myself to become fustrated by a few who are outright hypocrits and offer nothing by endless opinion unsubstanciated except by only their own ego's. I have also had some great, sincere discussions with some who had real questions and were willing to consider with an open mind and heart.

As I said, I will still be around, will occasionally jump in with a post or two, but I am going to stop beating this dead horse. There are many other areas and places where opportunity presents itself for me to be about my Fathers business, and I need to put my time to better use.

It is not just my opinion, but that of every Conservative Bible theologian abd Bible scholar.

Just because your opinion is backed up by other opinions does not make an opinion right, it just makes it a "popular" opinion. We all know what opinions are like........

I am not going to say how I came back in to the folds of the flock of the Lord, however I will say that my proof of His existance is NOT in the bible.

I do not need to say the bible is 110% literal.

I know God exists, I have personal proof of what he did for me.

I have faith that the essence of the bible is correct.

That Noah did have an ark, that he saved alot of animals. To what extent, I do not know. Do I think that it was every land based mammal, no. I think the "world" at that time was centered around the Middle East and he saved those animals in that part of the world.

I use the quotes around "world" because at even the time of the middle ages before Columbus discovered the americas or Marco Polo went to China on a boat, people didnt think out side of Europe as even exisiting.

The "world" was very small in people's minds back then.

The discovery of the America's didnt make God or the people who wrote Genesis wrong, it changed the CONTEXT of their meaning of "world"

Which is why, I can not take the entire bible literally.

Jesus, died, was buried and rose again. Literal.

When Catholics take part of communion, we share in the (not looking up the right word) transfiguration of the Lord's commandment at the last supper to "take this and eat of my body" and the wafers are transfigured in to the body and the wine in to the blood of Christ. We are taking that commandment Literally, but to some people, thats pishpaw, that must be figurative. You take your verses that you and your scholars want to take literally, We will take our verses that our scholars want to take literally.

One only sees what one wants to see.

One who holds on to "proof" more tightly in his hand than faith will often see "proof" slip thru his fingers.

I for one, will hold on to my faith, to my experiences, to my God in my way.

I do not have the answers to bring more people to God. Would I love to say I brought an Atheist to the Lord? Yes, but I think its more of a "notch on my belt" arrogance at this point than a true desire to bring someone to God.

All I can say is He is out there, He is watching, He loves us.

God takes only the good in people, Satan takes the bad.

Go read CS Lewis, he explains it better than I can. (the whole series, not just the first one)

I haven't read anything about Anti-Semitism apart from in the original post. This whole post seems to been about Christianity!:(

Perhaps the original purpose of it is as described above and an opportunity to evangelise and proselytise, rather than any genuine concern about Anti-Semitism in France or elsewhere.:)

I would at least have expected someone who professes to want people to open their minds to open their own mind and perhaps apologise for statements with no foundation based on propaganda and ignorance!

A Christian Minister who causes such offence is not thankfully typical of the kind of ministers I have come across.

And to throw a further spanner in the works,Jesus was a Jew who preached his Father's word. Christianity was invented by his followers after his death up until which Jesus was a practising Jew.

I think any true Christian scholar could substantiate that.

Therefore the subject of Anti-Semitism and any kind of racial/religious prejudice should be acknowledged by true Christians for the ignorant dangerous sentiment that it is. That includes groundless throw away comments which sound as though they contain hatred about other countires exporting hatred.....

I had heard about these type of sentiments in America but am still a little shocked. What a shame.:P

I can only hope that you saw more voices for love and harmony than for hate and intolerance.

If you saw more for the latter, than I didnt do my job well.

The problem with most threads in the rants and raves section is that they start on topic "A" end endup on topic "354"

While for the most part, we all do NOT want to preach hatred against any group.

Oh, and also, that "letter" was proven to be a fraud by snopes.com and we kind of left it at that.

I can say that the voices of the intolerate seem to be louder, the voices of the people who all, "just want to get along" are more, I hope.

We just need to get louder.

Yana...

Please don't judge all of us by one raving zealot. Most of us are totally in agreement with you. And you are absolutely correct....Jesus died a practicing Jew. People do tend to forget that. Just as Martin Luther had NO intention of leaving the Catholic Church - he just wanted to change some of its practices.

By the way, I hope to visit your country one day. My youngest son has been there and it sounds AMAZING.

Since we're so far off topic anyway.....

I walked 4 1/2 miles yesterday, although I'm sure it looked like I was glued to my monitor all day long!

Going to walk the dog now. He has started looking forward to this little ritual - a one mile jaunt around the neighborhood. I figure a mile is a long way when your legs are only 6 inches long, so I don't make him do the whole route....not yet, anyway. If he turns over the wastepaper basket again, I might.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
