Any St.Louis, MO Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Jessica H, who was your surgeon through Mercy? I'm going with Dr Hawver in Washington

Dr. Hawver, she's currently the only Mercy bariatric surgeon.

Dr Hawver made you have a Cpap machine even though you passed the sleep study?

Did she make you have a sleep study and then require a Cpap machine even if you didn't need it?

I was required to do a sleep study, but I did not have sleep apnea and no machine required, since I passed.

That's good to know. How long ago did you have surgery?

I just began my journey in August of this year and I have a six moth waiting period. I am driving my family crazy from talking about this surgery so much. I think it would be a good idea to have a buddy who is going through the same thing to support one another. My family is supportive but there's nothing like having someone who can relate by your side too.

Hello Jashantee, I am in same stage as you of the 6 months required diet & documentation for insurance purposes and I will be going to DePaul to Dr.Morales. Who are seeing for you diet? I am working with a dietician / nutritionist through SSM , but I think it's a pure waste of time .

For any Dr. Morales patients. How fast did the process go to get your surgery date after meeting with him and what steps did you have to take? Because I'm looking through this green binder and according to the checklist it looks like they're gonna put me on the liquid diet before my insurance request and that can't be right. I must be reading into it wrong.

Hi MzGee

I am meeting with the dietitian at SSM too. My last appt and surgeon consult is on 1/17, I'm so excited. What step are you in now?

I was hesitate about beginning the 6 month diet. I don't know what is but I've wanted gastric bypass for over 10 years now and I've been to countless seminars so I've started the process I have 5 more appointments so with the dietitian I'm really scared a little I guess. I could've been done by now with the appointments and submitting my paperwork as well. Please keep me updated on your status with the insurance company and SSM. I wish you the best!!!!

Hi girls,

I live in at Louis too. My surgery was on March 19, 2014. So far I've lost 62.5.

Would anyone be interested in getting together for lunch? We could go to bread Co.

Laurie

Dr. Hawver is my doctor. I had surgery at Washington, MO. Mercy hospital on 4/7/2014. I will have been sleeved for 7 weeks memorial day. Down 30 pounds ( maybe more) I only weigh once a week if that. Anyone want to be friends? I'm a 33, swf. Of like to find a local friend or 2 for support. Physical and mental support. Maybe work out buddies? Message me :-)

P.s.

Dr.Hawver is a great surgeon. I had minimal pain and no major problems. :-)

I totally understand. Mine was supposed to be 90 days, but my surgeon was pregnant at the time and decided to take off 12 weeks, which put a monkey wrench in it. I promise you, it'll be here before you know it! Take this time to do your research, get your meal plans together, get a good Protein Shake (I can recommend a couple) and just mentally get yourself ready. I spent a lot of time looking at pictures and dreaming about this day. Now I'm almost 5 mos out and I'm LIVING that dream! Stay positive and focused. Also, start using MyFitnessPal. It is my BIBLE. I record everything I eat to stay on track. You'll get there girl!

Please tell me what Protein Shakes you like? I just downloaded MyFitnessPal app! My procedure isn't until July ....first week? Haven't decided yet... Mexico! Any tips would be great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
