When I started working out I was at 500 calories and that was too low. I increased my calories and added in some carbs and felt much better when I was exercising.

7 months post op. 1000-1200 calories a day. I get about 100 grams of Protein and between 50-120 grams of carbs depending on the day. I work out 6 days a week with one rest day. My regimen is 3-4 days of weight training/cardio and the other days an hour of hiit cardio.

I am nearly 2 weeks out and struggling to get 500 a day, more like high 300s a couple of days, mid 400s..The doctor's office didn't really give me a target range..so, like you, I'm interested as to what I should be taking in at this point.

Hello all

I am almost 6 weeks post op and I can eat any where from 600-1000 calories a day. I think I need some help I feel like I am eating too much compared to what yall are eating. I have lost 55 lbs and 31 since surgery. Are you guys exercising? If so do you subtract that from the calories you eat? Is any body still drinking protien shakes? And if so how do you stay so low in your calories?

In the beginning they want you to focus on fluids and Protein and not worry so much about calories. In a few more weeks you will be able to get your calories up and then you should start tracking because it helps you to be more aware of what you are eating.

8 days out! My doctor constantly says the lucky numbers for the rest of my life will be 6 and 8. 60-80 grams of Protein a day. 60-80 ounces of Water a day. And 600-800 calories a day for the rest of my life. It's so easy and manageable.

I am 12 weeks out and eat between 600 - 800 calories a day. I don't adjust for exercise calories, as my RD and exercise physiologist advised me not to. They said that most people (and apps such as MFP) overestimate the calories burned, plus exercise may even suppress your metabolic rate.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
