I never thought I was that much of a big eater before being sleeved but seeing how much food is spoiling in my fridge has brought my out of denial. I now know that I have been the one eating the leftovers and bottom pots of food. I will be 3 months post op on 9/5/13 and down 44lbs and 2 dress sizes. I still cannot believe myself putting away food cos I'm full. Being full was never in my dictionary before the sleeve unless the food is finished. I still pinch myself every now and then to know if I am real or fake. My 1yr old has more appetite than I do and he is not big ( thank God he has my husband's stature). So so happy for the changes in my life but still can't believe that I now say NO to food? WOW. ME or someone else? Somebody pinch me please.

Yeah, pretty amazing life change isn't it! Of course, there are down moments too, when you would have used food to sooth or comfort and now you can't, but it is all worth it when you see the scale trend down down down!

Lol, congratulations on your weight loss and your new view of being full :-)

We are all conditioned In different ways to food and our behaviour around it. It is so ingrained, we can't always see it. If we are lucky, there's a "eureka" moment and suddenly we understand that x,y or z was a problem after all.

The sleeve can be that moment. I ate too much, not because I needed it, but because I was filling a hole in me that food was never going to fill. Getting a grip of my eating and learning to eat for fuel, rather than comfort, has let me look at why I ate the way I did and deal with those issues.

Good luck in keeping saying "no"!!!

I now happily throw food out with no sense of guilt - it makes me feel good that the hold has gone, lol

Such awesome results! So happy for you! Allowing something to have that much control over your life is tiring, isn't it? It must be so nice! I'm just waiting to complete my program and get my date set! :)

About throwing the food out, I don't think I will ever be able to do that. I have a problem with waste. All the "bad" food, or "going bad" food gets fed to my collection of animals, mainly the chickens! :)

Good luck to everyone! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
