I'll be having Dr. Kelly perform my Lap Band Surgery. Has anyone had him? If so can you tell me how he is and the results you have had?

I'm having Dr. Kelly, I met with him in Dec. My surgery date is for Feb 12. I didn't ask for anyone special, he was the next Doctor available. Very pleasant. I'm thrilled! My pre-surgery-tests appointment, is Jan 29.

Anyone on here thats having or had surgery at U-Mass Worcester, MA. I went to the post-surgery meeting, but most there had the gastric bypass. Their issues all seemed to be different.

I was banded by Dr. Czerniach as well. Everyone went great, but I think any of the Umass doctors would have been great. Umass is considered a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. I think you'll have a great experience.

superali72, I had Dr. Czerniah for my last fill (2nd one). He was doing fills and they wanted to move my date up, so they put me with him. Dr. Kelly did my surgery, Feb 12th. All has gone well. When did you have your surgery? Hope to chat again soon Bonnie

Hi Bonnie - I had my surgery on 4/19 - 5 days ago. Everything is going well. I have to admit that the liquid diet is getting tough, but I can hang in there. My nutrition appt. is on 4/30, so hopefully I can graduate to the soft foods soon. The whole experience at Umass has been great though. When were you banded?

Superali72, I was banded Feb 12th. I started this whole process in April 06. Here's my e-mail, kedasmom@yahoo.com If you would like to keep in touch. Maybe we'll see each other at one of the group meetings. I don't find many lapbanders at the meetings. So I haven't gone lately. Chat soon Bonnie

I think the next meeting is the 3rd Thursday in May, the 17th. Keep in touch and maybe we can meet up at that meeting. I drive school bus so once school ends I go to New Hampshire to work at a campground and only come home for dr. appointments.. The last meeting I attended, I only saw one women that had lapband surgery. Most of the talking was all about gastric bypass. When I had my surgery I had to stay over due to sleep apena. They were all very nice. I'm due to get another fill (3rd) May 8th. I have lost 18lbs. Wish it was more but. . .it is down. I had more restriction after surgery. But once the swelling goes down you have to be careful not to gain it back. They are good about moving your appointments up if you are not feeling any restriction. I had mine moved up twice now. Hoping this next one will do the trick. I have 1.5cc's right now. Chat soon Bonnie

Smyly and superali72, Hope the two of you are doing well. Just had my 3rd fill this week. I had a NP do it. She did a wonderful job. Was over in no time. She put in .3cc, said that they will put in .2cc or .3 from now on. I am feeling more restriction and have to make sure I chew everything really good. But I'm more hopeful that this one will do the trick and make the weight lose start happening again. Let me know how you are doing.. Bonnie

Hi Bonnie... I'm doing great. My first fill is on May 22nd. I've lost 14 lbs so far, but I'm definitely concerned that I might gain some back before the fill. I definitely have an appetite back, but I'm definitely not as hungry as I used to get before the band. I'm eating under a 1000 calories right now, so hopefully I'm not gaining too much until that fill. Can't wait to see the results after!

Good luck with your fill. I hope you start seeing the results you want as well. Hang in there. I think I'm going to the support group meeting next week. Let me know if you're planning to go

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
