I'm a 48 year old single mom of two girls, 16yrs and 12yrs. The hospital stay was a but of a vacation lol. I decided I was going to turn 50yrs at 150lbs not 250lbs. So here I go.

  • Okay! Feeling much better today! I went ahead and scheduled an appt with my doc and went with all my issues! He fixed them ALL! Told me to cut my antidepressant in half and take it!! Woohoo! Ju

I hate artificial sweeteners. I had a rough time getting my fluids in early. I broke down and drank Gatorade. It was either drink Gatorade or nothing.

I was in the same boat...I tried the Powerade Zero but it was too sweet. Ended up with Gatorade G2.

Problem is I like my ice tea sweetened and haven't really tried any sweeteners so not sure which is best

Starbucks passion tea no sweetener hit the spot for me, decafinated and no sugar. Tastes a little herby, but oh so good!

I drink green tea everyday. I sipped for. Maybe 4 days but now i can drink a half glass water with no problem. Sleeved 8/21. Maybe my restriction isnt like u guys?

Sleeved on 8/23/13. Came home the next day without any drains! I am on full liquids and semi solids! The first week was rough however when i started back on my Chewable B Complex it made a huge difference!! (hospital said to quit taking it' date=' that was a no no) . As long as i get my protein in and my B complex then i feel good most days, although i do get tired easily. I came back to work after a week. I am good with keeping the liquids down, i have a hard time with the food because i keep trying to eat too fast. (pain & nausea) I would love to stay connected with the other August sleevers as we go through this journey!! [/quote']

I agree I am on soft foos and tried some baked fish and garlic noodles with winter mix could only eat about 2 bites of each and my stomach said wait what is this... :) I think I just ate it to fast will try again tomorrow but much slower!!!!

I had band to sleeve revision on the 21st and it has been a long 3 weeks but now starting to feel so much better after infection, fever and baseball size knot on the biggest incision! Weight loss of 17 lbs. Walking farther everyday. Eating and drinking with no issues. Taste has changed for a few things, like sweets and coffee dosnt satisfy. Can taste salt more too. Weird.

Can someone give me the facebook address

August sleevers Is the Facebook group ;)

I was sleeved 8/12. Down 16 lbs since surgery. I lost 17 lbs in the months leading up to surgery. Pre-surgery 219.8 current 203.4. I'm basically eating regular foods. Except no beef or pork' date=' no fruit, no raw veggies per doctor. So, my family and I have come up with TONS of stuffed/rolled chicken recipes. Favorites so far: bruschetta stuffed chicken, asparagus and Swiss stuffed chicken, and spaghetti squash stuffed with turkey burger, quinoa, fire roasted tomatoes and various cheeses.

Man, our grocery bill has been radically reduced! My hubby was sleeved 12/31.

It makes me laugh that a chicken breast lasts me 2-3 meals.

Ladies: I struggled this month, right before my cycle with a chocolate craving. This is about better choices, so went and got an 86% cacao chocolate bar that has 5grams of sugar in 1/2 a bar. All I needed was a corner (that bar will last MONTHS!) and the craving was gone!! I also (as usual) could not get enough food, felt like I was starving! Nut said it was ok to add some calorie content those few days, but to listen to my body and cut it back again because I didn't really need it anymore. This helped a lot. I added a mini meal in between breakfast and lunch and another after dinner, for 2days, now I'm good again and no hunger.

I haven't lost a lot, relative to many. But for me, it's more than I would have otherwise. I have determined that I will no longer put CRAP into my body. If it doesn't serve a nutritional need it doesn't go in!

I struggle drinking water, but went back to the protein fruit drinks I used the first week, mixed in 1liter of water, and I can get 2 liters in a day plus sometimes.

I also miss chewing crunchy things most. Has anyone found any good crunchy stuff? Not as a snack but to augment a meal?

Thanks for reading my rambling, sorry!

Ramble away, it's interesting stuff. I was sleeved 8/11. I was nil by mouth for 24 hours then on to water for the next 24 hours before moving on to full liquids. I was so down as I was sooo hungry. But then, 48 hours after surgery I got my period. After I moved on to puree my hunger really settled down. But, that time of the month rolled around and the hunger was back! I have PCOS so the hunger is before, during and for a couple of days after. Im so glad to know i'm not alone in this. And its good to hear what your NUT advised. Isnt it funny how we can eat more without discomfort at 'that' time... Thankfully, with PCOS the less you weigh the milder the symptoms. So I'm hoping that the hunger will decrease in severity as time goes on. What is really bugging me though is this incessant wind! I have never tooted so much and when I eat and drink I gargle like an old drain. When will this stop..... Lol!

HEY! Another 27th-er. I was in the ICU for 4 days after surgery' date=' released yesterday. I've been drinking as much as I can. Diet Snapple, LowCal Gatorade, water and beef broth. Jello right now is kind of iffy because it kkinda hurts after a while but it goes away. The only pain I have is from my largest incision and the area surrounding it. Other than that, i'm feeling fab. Just hope I don't get dehydrate, 2oz an hour is killing me.[/quote']

Why where you in ICU????

I'm up 3.7 pounds this week. I am 2.5 weeks out and up already. I can't believe this!

I know how you feel! Not sure what happens at 2 weeks :/ have you started puréed or soft solids?
