So my Doc wants me to loose ten lbs prior to surgery. The problem is my surgery might be 3 weeks or less away ( not scheduled yet ... Will hear def date next week) any advice for dropping ten quickly but safely? The only suggestion they provided was cut my food in half an exercise ten min a day.

Their suggestion should work, it worked for me. I had more time than you, but I actually dropped 20 because I was eating much less, and several times a day; sort of like I do now.

I don't know what your schedule is like, but if you can set a timer for every 5 minutes, and take 1-3 bites of food each time, it really helps you to eat less. Stop eating after 20-30 minutes. Also, try to consume as much Protein during the day as possible, and drink a glass of Water about 10 minutes before you eat and try not to drink while eating. Only eat when you are actually hungry.

Hope this helps! :)

I'm starting my morning with a Protein shake, lunch I try to do a lean cuisine... But omg publix turkey subs are so good! :) and dinner is typically something grilled. My prob is and always has been nighttime eating after the girls sleep:(

Night-time was my problem to!!! I would always eat a large bowl of Cereal or something. Yeah, well, that definitely has to STOP. Eat or drink Protein to curb your mental hunger, it helps! You can do this!

Doc wants me to loose ten lbs prior to surgery.

rocknrollmama

many docs tell their patients to lose X amount of weight prior to WLS

put yourself on a liquid diet

drink Protein shakes, stuff like that

post WLS - you are gonna be drinking like that for awhile - so give yourself a jump start

you'll get used to the Protein drinks, get used to the liquid phase you are going to have to endure sooner than later

you can lose this weight - your success also shows doc how determined you are to having the WLS, following the ruies et al

good luck

take care

kathy

If your problem is night time snacking and you are preop you might want to try getting some casein Protein to drink in the evening, it forms a gel in your stomach which helps fill you up. I recently started using it since the old night time snack urges were starting to return. Now for those who are post op you shouldn't use casein until you are at 6 to 7 months out since the expansion can cause problems in your sleeve when it's not fully healed, but after that time it really is quite helpful. Good Luck.

My Doc's pre-op diet was less than 40 grams of carbs a day for 2 weeks. I did it for 3 weeks because I wanted to lower my bmi before surgery, and I lost 19 pounds pre-op. It was easy and painless. No need to count anything except carbs. If I was hungry I had cheese or meat or an egg. I don't see any need to suffer on liquids.< /p>

Thanks guys! I know I can do it.. I'm just falling into that trap of "this is my last xyz" which I know is not true.

I am also going to try and learn to knit so I can keep my hands busy at night.

I took up crochet 6 weeks ago. Now knitting for the same reason. Just finished my first granny square quilt. It really helped me hope it helps you! I learned from an amazing site- very pink knits-she has patterns and fantastic how to videos. Have fun.

That's one of the reasons I knit.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
