I had my surgery on Monday the 26th.. Stayed in the hospital over night and was not able to eat anything for those two days.. Right before I left the hospital I threw up this bile nasty bitter brown and yellowish stuff, I couldn't swallow anything because my chest feels full of air. I feel like I have phlegm in the back of my throat and when i spit it out its phlegm with blood and then comes the throw up for sure..Yesterday, Wednesday, I was able to sip small amounts of Water, a little bit of chicken broth and all thanks to the supposotories my doctor ordered to help with the nausea and vomiting. My nausea is not gone.. today I still feel the pain in my chest, it hurts! I'm so hungry, cannot stomach the Protein Shakes, and I'm very discouraged.. I can handle the pain, the incisions don't bother me.. I'm not even taking any pain meds because they make me nauseous but the chest pain and throwing up is driving me crazy.. what else can I eat? What else can I do? Wlaking is not really helping all this gas in my chest.. should I be concerned? Also my left upper thigh feels numb.. am I going crazy? HELP!!

There's a lot going on with you. No wonder you need help. It seems you should call the doctor about the nausea and vomiting. Perhaps he/she will be able to prescribe a different medication. You should also talk to the doctor about your thigh. As far as actions you can take (1) Really push the fluids. In addition to the Water and broth, try sugar free popsicles, Jello, nonfat no sugar or fruit added Greek yogurt, no sugar added hot chocolate (Swiss Miss makes some). (2) Don't worry too much about Protein right now. You can try putting some, maybe half a scoop, of chocolate or vanilla Protein Powder in the hot chocolate. Do the best you can do on it, but don't stress. In a few days it will be easier to get the protein in. Check in with an update.

Try a heating pad for the pain. Getting anything down is rough those first few days, but you have to keep trying or you'll end up dehydrated. Try Isopure Protein watered down, its a clear Protein Drink you can get from GNC and it isn't so heavy on the tummy. I still cannot drink blender style Protein Shakes, it whips in too much air, and feels like I'm drinking something carbonated. Maybe watered down Gatorade also, and try things at different temperatures also. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy healing.

I would say please call the on call doctor..The thigh numbness is concerning.. Are you up and walking at least ten minutes out of your waking hours?

Just to weigh in, after the last three surgeries I have had in the last two years (including this one on August 19), I have suffered thigh numbness and sometimes excruciating burning. None of my surgeries have involved my legs. It wasn't too bad after the sleeve surgery, but quite bad after my previous two surgeries. Of course, discuss with your doctor, but mine is likely damage to the femoral cutaneous nerve which runs along your upper thigh and hip. Sometimes when they strap people down for surgery, they damage this nerve--and it's more prone to damage with obesity also. There are parts of my leg that are still numb, but the pain has all but disappeared as nerves take some time to heal. Good luck!!

Update: called doctor and I was told blood clots don't cause numbness so its just my body reacting to everything. Popsicles are wonderful as I am able to keep them in and eat a ton of them but she really wants me to push the shakes and I don't think I'm ready to start throwing up again. Maybe I exaggerate, BUT, I hate the feeling of being ignored when I call.. I know they're the doctors and they know better but if I'm concerned don't just disregard my concern, show a little compassion please.. don't make me feel stupid :(.. Thanks for letting me Vent.. you guys are awesome..

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
