I think they forget that they're in a service industry - and we are paying (and oh! are we paying!) for the service.

Really, as consumers medical patients get a pretty rough time.

:)

It's a personal bug-bear of mine, I have to say!

Hi all,

long time sice I have been on line.

Just read the Hearld newspaper clipping. Maybe Drs should lobby the govt to make it accessible for everyone.

It would save them heaps in the long run and save many people from undergoing the pain of many problems associated with obesity.

I am a great advocate for lap band now. My life has changed and I have only around 8 kg to get to where i want to be.

Each year around now I would have joined ww and looked at my goal weight which is 68kg and thinking to myself it didnt work last time. Now after lap band I can say I can see 68kg and know that i am going to get there.

Oprah has now had it done according to a recent story. She may inspire many others to get it done.

Cheers

Extremely happy:clap2:

Hi All, Meredith happy 3 month bandiversary! You will look fabulous by the time your wedding rolls around. Is it too early to say that getting banded has changed your life, or do you need to wait for your 12 month anniversary to be able to say that? You look terrific in your pics.

I am feeling a bit happier today. I think I was having a moment of being totally overwhelmed with the whole banding thing yesterday.

Bronnie you may have these kind of moments, they are pretty normal from what I have heard.

I am feeling well, although I had some stabbing pain from my port region today. Must be forming scar tissue around it.

As for my bill I haven't heard back yet. This bill is from the assistant surgeon. I am so happy with everything my surgeon has done for me. He is fantastic.

I wonder how Dionne is.

Hope you are all well.

Susannah

Hi, Is it really true that Oprah was banded? I thought she had her own personal trainer and cook and went that route. :)

Susannah I was saying the band had changed my life a month out! haha I love my band, it is the best investment I have made in myself ever.

My port hurt more a few weeks out too, I think you're spot on, its probably the healing process.

I'm glad you're feeling better!!!

Karen - I hope you find a pool that you can use. Silly me just remembered that you are in Adelaide - no hope of using our local Mordialloc pool from there very easily! Pity, because it has a hoist, AND is always only heated to almost cold!

Susannah - Hope you get somewhere with your bill - if you have to pay it anyway, at least you can think of the savings you'll get in other ways - after all, small clothes are cheaper, and you'll be needing a whole lot less food! LOL!

Thanks Goanna, melbourne is just a bit too far to travel to use a Pool, mind you gettng there could be an excercise challenge in itself!!

I thought the idea of seeing a physio was really good, if necessary they can perhaps refer me to an appropriatte personal trainer. I have appled to see one of the physio's at the MS society, I figure it is worth seeing someone who has a specalist knowldge of the MS issues- it may take a while to get in, but if it seems to take too long I can always ask for them to suggest a private physio. in the meantime I will keep plodding along using the theraband resistance bands for some general toning- a gentle but safe start! Would love to get back to using a magnetic rower though!

Hi all,

Haven't been around for a while so thought I'd pop in this thread and say hello :) Great to see so many locals around!

Things have been a bit hectic lately at work, home, etc. We've also just purchased our first home, which comes with a huge set of headaches on its own. Don't move in til April, but is anyone around the Eltham area by chance?

Hope everyone is doing well and good luck to those just getting started on this journey :)

I couldnt live further from Eltham Jess, but its gorgeous out that way.

Its a big adjustment, going from inner city living to the burbs. Lol, it took me, oh, 12 years to stop complaining about how far away everything was. Now I'm used to it I couldnt go back, too much noise, traffic, pollution.

Congratulations on the purchase!

Thanks! :)

haha - yea, we moved from Richmond, to Williamstown and after 3 years in Willy, the reason we moved back inner city was because of the commute. We both complained DAILY about the drive and how we wasted on average 3 hours/day in driving. I don't know what we're thinking moving that far out LOL, but I do love Eltham cause of the greenery and the fact that we'll finally have a back yard (with pool for these awful summer days we've been having lol).

I've already told David though that I plan on working from home several days per week. Guess I'm lucky that I have that flexibility in my job. Jaz will still be going to school in Kew, but there's school bus that picks up and drops off at the Eltham station.

I'd love to have a bandsters get together after we get settled in though, if anyone's interested in catching up.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
