What does feeling full feel like to you?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was sleeved on 8/20, so I'm right at my one week mark. A few questions/concerns have popped up for me since I've been home and healing (the healing process is pretty rapid I might add. Every day there's a noticeable improvement in how I feel). When I eat (well, drink, I'm still on liquids) and I get full, it more or less just feels like a bunch of pressure in my chest. I have yet to experience a good old-fashioned "boy am I full!" feeling. Once I am healed, will this basic sensation return, or will for the rest of my life know that I should stop eating when I start to get a pseudo-heart attack feeling of pressure in my chest? If I'll never feel full again the way that regular non-sleeved people do, then uh.... bummer! Currently, I get nervous every time I drink my full liquids because the pressure in my chest is unpleasant.

Yes it changes.... I used gas x strips to relieve the gas pain. Now it feels full. I am very aware when my sleeve is getting full. Now I am to the point I can judge about how many more bites I can eat. It does feel.funny sometimes while eating with others. I can eat one mini taco and feel.stuffed. all the while watch others eat 5 tacos to fill.full. that feels weird. You will be sensitive to your body... you will know. Best Wishes..

Remember how it was when one little bite of something delicious was all that was left on your plate, so you immediately dispatched it, getting a "gold star" for cleaning your plate? AIN'T HAPPENING! When you get the "full signal," stop. There is no more last bite stuffing!

Thanks for the replies! I still ask though... Let's say I fast forward to a year from now. I'm eating dinner with my family and I get full. Will I feel full the same way I've always felt full, or is it "different" like it is now? Right now it's an artificial full, a "pressure". It's not a very satisfying feeling.

I don't know about a year from now but I will be at 3 months tomorrow. I realized just the other day I am not getting that chest pain that is so uncomfortable anymore. Being full feels closer to the old days, I'm really glad to be over that horrible pressure. I can even sneak in "one last bite" without making myself feel like I was going to die.

Still not the right answer,. I still didn't get if the filling is the very same as before or different.

I'm 3 months out and my stomach never feels full. It feels like the tube that leads to the stomach gets full, all the way to the throat, where that one last bite will make u puke. But, before that last bite, I know it's time to stop. It's weird.

That's exactly how I feel. I can never get it right. It's always the last litle spoon I'm having that makes me feel extra full and puky for at least half an hour. I might eat to fast. I hope one day I will get it right. Thank you for the info.

What Vegas said answered it for me with two of her statements:

I am not getting that chest pain that is so uncomfortable anymore and

Being full feels closer to the old days. She said she's 3 months out, so perhaps over time we'll get to the point where it at least resembles the same old feeling! Everyone's different of course.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
