Recommended Posts

I have wanted so bad for this to be a rewarding experience, Exciting experience etc, but ive been sadly disappointed :( I just can't get past this nausea. My surgery was June 20. I'm a slow loser , but that's ok because I'm only 4'11". Surgery day I was 191.4 and today I'm 172. I barely can keep anything down for the last week though. I'm lost and I really don't want to spiral into a depression like I did for the first month after surgery, that was AWFUL!

It is interesting that the nausea has occurred this far out from surgery. It may have absolutely nothing to do with the surgery. Hydration is so very important and vomiting makes it difficult to stay hydrated, It is time to consult your doctor.

I took anti nausea meds along with Levsin, an anti cramping medicine, for my first two months every day. One day I woke up, the nausea was gone and I stopped. I still have a prescription on hand just in case.

Ask your surgeon for a prescription. Nausea is torture.

I haven't been able to stomach ANYTHING all week, I know dehydration is a HUGE factor, but how do I drink Water when it makes me so sick?

You have hit the nail on the head. Get to your doctor and get something going to stop this cycle.

You really need to get to the doctor IMHO. You are also probably lacking electrolytes now due to dehydration will make you doubly nauseous. Please call the doc, and in the meantime, drink some G-2 or Pediacare to replace the electrolytes.

I'd do full sugar Gatorade. That's the only thing I could tolerate. It took me hours to down a 16oz bottle but I felt SO MUCH better when I finished it. Water is too "hard" when you are newly sleeved, especially when you are already dehydrated.

I agree with Lipstick Lady... full sugar Powerade or Gatorade. Thats all I drank right after surgery because Water and CL just made me sick. So I got uber dehydrated and constipated. Once I got a few of those in me I felt a lot better... get some Gatorade and call the doc...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
